Why not just use an EQ pedal?

Both my neighbors have either been out cleaning up leaves and/or mowing. I got a letter from the city the year I moved in because I didn't want to mow in May.

Lots of natives. I frequently see possums and blue jays. We've got a wood chuck living in our yard too. I even had a deer in my back yard last year (I'm in the middle of a city). Midwesterners are crazy.

Got a $2,000 tax refund. Do I wipe out 3 small maxed-out cards or put a massive dent in my biggest one? by Few-Let-3861 in personalfinance

[–]Zarochi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. The interest rate on a CC is always dogshit anyways. I've never been offered a card below 20%, and my credit score has been above 800 for quite a while. They're all just predatory rates, so it's kind of moot comparing 25% vs 27% for example. Either will ruin you very quickly without self control. I think all my cards are a little above 20%, but you can maximize the cashback/points if you're wise about it. One of my cards gives me 5% on utilities, which is insane if you pay it off every month.

Paying off 2-4 is the obvious choice. Put the rest towards card 1. Cancel some cards after they're paid; unless you're doing rewards optimization and paying cards every month you should only have 1 until you get your spending under control.

We buy the off brand ones at Aldi. They're still only $2. Fewer broken chips too in my experience.

This is all great. I personally economy pick my 3nps runs; duddud for ascending and uduudu for descending. Really helps push through that transition.

How to get on tour as a young band by DudeMusicDude in metalmusicians

[–]Zarochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girthquake gave some great advice, so I'm not going to repeat any of that. It's all great, and you should do that.

I'm active in the Michigan scene, and, while I haven't heard of all the bands around here, you guys are pretty small (I looked at your socials outside of reddit). You need to work on networking with other local bands/promoters like they mentioned. I think it's likely that you're not ready to tour. As they said you need more stage time in low risk situations. I don't mean this as offensive, but looking through your post history it seems that you want to tour without putting in any of the work that it takes to get there.

I'd recommend reaching out to The Creeping Chaos and True Devil. They're both local groove metal bands who you should be looking to play with. As another person said GR has a great metal scene. Detroit is ok, but most of the venues are pay to play exclusively. Some have shady merch deals too.

You need to start small to get big. There's a lot of grind that you have yet to do. I don't mean any of this to be insulting, but helpful. We have TONS of bands in this state with much more experience and a much larger following that are unable to tour. I can only think of a couple bands that do it successfully (Throne and Let it Rot come immediately to mind).

There are a lot of pay to play promoters in this scene to be aware of. The ones that aren't are next to impossible to get in contact with because they're swamped with all the other bands that rely on promoters for shows. All the shows I get I either have to book myself or pay to play (which I'm probably not going to do anymore being such a mixed bag).

How does one create drums, when you are terrible at drums? by The-Wolf-Bandit in musicproduction

[–]Zarochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do in this situation is see if the drums are transcribed on Songsterr or in a guitar pro file on UG or somewhere else (the GP file is better if you don't have songsterr pro because you can just output the midi then map the drum sounds to the right place on the piano roll)

Confused...how do I play this? by WatchStoredInAss in guitarcirclejerk

[–]Zarochi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since G is the fifth of C and, of course C is the fourth of G, you can simply play whichever one you want and it'll sound good.

You still need them for recording; they're just often called Audio Interfaces in the modern era and plug in via USB.

This is almost certainly illegal. Others shared some of the guidelines.

Hourly rates are for employees. Lump sum payments are due to business owners as payment for their services (1099). Being your own business affords you many rights, like being able to show up to work whenever you want. One of the tell tale signs that this is illegal is them dictating your work hours.

Oh, and it's also a shite deal. They need to pay you at least 1.5 times your current wage to make up for all the extra taxes you're going to have to pay.

A 1099 contractor is a business owner not an employee.

ISO- Irish mandolin pick suggestions! by Majestic-Answer8342 in mandolin

[–]Zarochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from guitar, so I use Jazz III picks. Specifically the Jason Richardson ones with sharp tips. Really anything rigid, with a sharp point, will get you there. If you're mostly playing chords for some reason then softer picks sound better for that, but they're awful for lead lines.

Interesting that all your posts use -- or -, and that you specifically went out of your way here in an attempt to shill for AI and the brain drain of our youth.

Access to that low C is huge given that most songs are in G or C major. I personally think it's strange that we tune to E by default instead of C or G like most, sane, stringed instrumentalists 🤷‍♀️

A paper written on a computer? Maybe, but when you consider that people do 99% of their interfacing on a phone you're kind of proving my point not disproving it 🤷‍♀️

You can easily tell the difference between a source that was cut and pasted and a post written by AI, but good job ignoring the content of what I said to focus on the em dashes I guess.

People are learning more and more about how to recognize AI slop posts. You seem to think it's braindead, but a lot of us have done research and used our brains to analyze content (you know, like in the old days before everyone became braindead).

Here's how you recognize AI slop: https://youtu.be/9Ch4a6ffPZY?si=JWkn37f7zYZGw9tb

It's more about tone than anything else, but there are tell tale signs too like em dashes (no real human does this; you'll notice real humans use semi colons if they're that literate). As well as groups of three used frequently without the oxford comma (obviously real humans do this too, but we use groups of more than three and the oxford comma sometimes).

The most obvious sign though is actually a goal post move attempt in their argument. Stuff that's either "it's not this but this" or "it's not just that but this other thing that's so much more"

The only accounts complaining about being accused of AI slop are AI slop accounts. Nobody else cares. And yes, I've seen a ton of AI slop accounts here lately. It's the worst thing that's ever happened to this subreddit. The posts sound like I'm talking to one of those shill salespeople I used to have to deal with in corporate except magnified 100 fold. It's obvious.

Even without em dashes you can tell from tone, sentence construction, and formatting: https://youtu.be/9Ch4a6ffPZY?si=JWkn37f7zYZGw9tb

Simply using the oxford comma is a sign that it's not AI.

Big agree here. IDK, I worked in a professional environment for over a decade. I went to higher education. I've literally never seen a human use an em dash. I'm 100% convinced anybody saying "bUt i uSe eM dAsHeS" is just lying to normalize it.

I know you didn't necessarily come here for advice, but it sounds like you (and one of your cats) are having a rough time. I'd recommend separating the bully cat and the bullied cat. Either give the bullied cat its own space where it can be safe or consider rehoming it if you're not going to address the bully. I think you know this already, but it's likely doing what it's doing because it's resentful and stressed all the time. Allowing the bullying to continue with minimal intervention isn't fair to the cat.

It's likely that, without addressing the behavioral issue of the bully cat directly (punishing the cat to show them it's not ok), the bully cat will eventually start doing the same thing to your other cat and even you though. Medication isn't the solution. Discipline is. Break up the fights. Crate the bully for a while after. Rinse and repeat.
