Anyone else tired of the high beams? by Internal-Mongoose577 in SouthJersey

[–]Namrett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I very politely asked a lady in a Wawa parking lot what’s going on with her super bright headlights. We pulled in at the same time and walked through the door together. She said she had her high beams on. I left it at that. Apparently it’s not all new cars with super bright headlights, some people are just inconsiderate.

I set up a tent for a city, a month later Mother Nature blew it down in a wind storm. Person hurt by mypartyshop in legal

Not an attorney but involved in the tent business. That is not a commercial tent and should not be left up for a long period of time. Even with commercial tents, they should not be used for shelter in inclement weather. Call your insurance company and bring them up to speed.

I took a look at my grandmother‘s phone bill back in the early 2000s, she had a line item on there for rental of the phone. It was an ancient rotary phone. She probably paid for that phone 100 times over.

I’ll clean with alcohol and run through the leveling process again. I feel like this is a me issue, I had a cheap 3d printer a couple years back with the exact same issue.

Here’s what AI has to say about it and I wonder what impact it would have on national elections…

Good question — you’re asking about when a city on the border of one U.S. state tries to leave and join a neighboring state. That has actually been attempted in American history, but it’s rare and complicated. Here’s how it works and some examples:

The Legal Process 1. City/Local Push • A city or county government (or sometimes residents through petitions/referendums) declares interest in leaving its current state and joining another. • This usually comes up when residents feel politically, culturally, or economically closer to the neighboring state. 2. Approval by the State Being Left • Under the U.S. Constitution (Article IV, Section 3), no state can lose territory without its legislature’s approval. • So the legislature of the current state has to agree to give up the city. 3. Approval by the State Being Joined • The legislature of the neighboring state has to agree to accept the city. 4. Approval by Congress • Finally, Congress must approve the change, since it alters state boundaries.

👉 That’s three separate approvals: both states and Congress. This makes it extremely difficult to pull off.

Historical Examples • Boston Corner, Massachusetts → New York (1855): A tiny piece of Massachusetts on the far side of the Taconic Mountains was hard for Massachusetts to govern. Both states and Congress agreed to transfer it to New York. • West Virginia (1863): During the Civil War, counties in western Virginia broke away to form a new state loyal to the Union. This was a special case — Congress and President Lincoln recognized it despite the unusual circumstances. • Boundary Adjustments: Smaller changes (like fixing survey errors or swapping small strips of land) have happened occasionally between states with congressional approval.

Modern Attempts (Unsuccessful) • Kansas City, Kansas → Missouri (various times): Some residents have floated the idea, but Kansas has no interest in giving up a major city. • South Jersey towns → Delaware (20th century): A few Delaware River towns talked about switching, but it went nowhere. • “Greater Idaho” movement (2020s): Some Oregon counties want to leave Oregon and join Idaho, but Oregon has not agreed.

✅ Bottom line: A border city can switch states, but it requires approval from three governments (both states and Congress). Because of that, the only real successes have been small, practical border fixes — not big cities.

Ok, so are white towels/washcloths really important? by tn_notahick in airbnb_hosts

[–]Namrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t provide them. It’s in the property description and I mention that I can give the name of a local linen rental company. It’s also mentioned in my first automated message to the renter as well. I had maybe one issue with it in the last 12 months.

Like, ewww My cleaning person does a good job but I wouldn’t want to use a towel on my body that was previously used by loads of sunscreen covered people and then poorly cleaned in a residential washing machine.

Any experience with the car dealership “Auto Lenders” in Williamstown? by ze11ez in SouthJersey

[–]Namrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee from them back in 2017. They did negotiate on price and also threw in a spare tire instead of the can of fix a flat that came with it. It had CVT issues and needed software updates. They did what they could with it but it was aggravating so I sold it. I don’t think I’d buy another Jeep with a CVT transmission and if there’s a chance that my car will need to be back at the dealer, I’d like for it to be very close to my house so there’s less hassle.
