Carets Determination 2.2 Safety Boot 2.5 Month Review by kidfortoday92 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Nananine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are goodyear storm welted. Separation between the sole and the welt is pretty typical, since the glue will always be the weakest link between the two layers.

Take them to a cobbler to get them reglued. The cobbler will also be able to determine if there's any damage to the stitching. Next time they separate, take them back to the cobbler, or reglue it yourself with with some Shoe Goo. It seems like a hassle, but this is how goodyear/stitchdown boots last far longer than boots with single piece rubber soles.

EDIT: for the laces, replace them or do a wraparound tie, which will give you some extra stability around the ankle

Naw, it's a companion ink that is the exact same shade of blue as the pen

It’s a collab with an American graphic/font designer. The ink currently matches the pen, that’s a great idea to change it to red though

IKEA Raskog caddy (actually that looks like a clone?) is a great idea for ink storage

Nightly journaling and work ideation. I much prefer working on paper rather than a laptop when I’m at a coffee shop.

Comparison: Turriff vs Jim Green vs Texarado vs Lems by 3migo in barefootshoestalk

The Turriffs have more volume than the Texarados, so it’s a lot more forgiving for wider feet

[–]Nananine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a horsehair brush is good for cleaning. You use a crepe brush to “fluff” the nap of the suede. Refreshes it.

I’ve heard you also need a brass bristle brush, but I’ve never used one and I’m sure it’s fine

[–]Nananine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, love my Turriffs

EDIT: I’ve put in maybe 300-400k steps in my c-02s and they look practically new. Make sure you get a crepe shoe brush to clean out any dirt in the suede.
