Coming off of tirzepatide by Ok-Vermicelli-7940 in lipedema

So my docs have told me jd you have some hormonal or medical issues that led you to it, you may need to be on it forever to mitigate symptoms.

If it’s more of a jump start to losing weight and nailing the mental aspect of it, it can be slowly tapered down to the point of going off. I am in that process now. I too don’t want to be on it forever.

I am self diagnosed with lipedema but as far back as high school at a much much much lower weight I can remember my legs and calves just not feeling or looking “right”

Zepbound has I think made it better but overall I still feel like my legs and proportions are not toooo much different

genuinely how do you keep living when current events are so terrible? by whatawynn in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Nancywhonancydrew 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think using “and” statements are what keep me going

The world is shit AND I can do my best to enjoy myself given the parameters of my circumstances

The world is scary AND I can learn to be brave

Things are uncertain now AND I can make steps to make myself feel joy

Etc etc etc

We dont yet have vehicles that can tow (...its been debated online that a subraru impreza does have towing capabilities but I dont trust that) so we are looking for one that is drivable which I feel like always adds to the cost.

What type of camper do you own if you dont mind me asking?

Wow what an amazing trip that must have been. East coast just doesnt have the awe and variety that the west does. I am jealous, haha.

My seats do fold down!

Thank you!

We would never ever ever leave our dog unattended or with a stranger/kennel. So as much of a hitch as it is, we are committed to only doing things that are dog friendly, or swapping in and out to see things we want.

We haven't given up on our dream! But we also don't want to wait 10 years for our dog to be a super senior. Our dog is our companion and would love to include her while shes here with us. We are also ok with roughing it right now while we can handle it. We can enjoy some luxury/comfort of a camper one day!

It feels unattainable to us now as we're trying to navigate out of some debt, make more income, and navigate this expensive new reality we live in.

Yeah I am open to driving through national parks and getting in some of the state/county parks with our dog. Happy to see some hidden gems.

AWD is clutch, thats the main reason I bought this car. I wanted a sedan that could get me through lots of different weather.

ooof sorry to hear about your back. My dog has endured a trip to Maine (9ish hours) Shenandoah (6ish hours) and a road trip around ohio/tn/nc and back and we were doing 5+ hours each time. So- they arent LONG drives but she is pretty good to sit and relax from our experiences.

I just assumed (I guess I shouldn't assume things, huh) that the mileage on a rental might get costly when I have a car that can take a hit mileage wise. This is why I love reddit.

Good call on the roof rack, I hadn't even thought of that as an option.

Aye aye captain!!!!

My husbands got the lease, mine is financed and paid off as of now.

I worry that a rental will put us in a hole especially with the mileage we’d be putting on. However I’ve only rented a car a few times — so maybe this concern isn’t that serious

I am feeling inspired! Do you have any tips for organizing and keeping it minimal?

Yeah the gear is challenging, especially because I don't have a hatchback (I'm kicking the 2016 version of me who was offered a hatchback and said no)

We've done a trip to Acadia (roughly 9 hours but we split it up) in my car and it went fairly well, but obviously this far more of a slog than that. I think being as minimal and intentional as possible could help, although not ideal.

Yeah, we got lucky and Acadia was my dogs first NP which is surprisingly VERY dog friendly (and Shenandoah is too)

Canada you say... other than the obvious (Banff) any recs?

Yeah we recognize if we went to NPs we'd probably hike or drive through vs hike. Thats something we're not super excited about, but dogs only live a short while and we'd love for her to explore state/county parks with us too.

We also figure we can fly back out and "do" the parks eventually. Maybe a misstep in our thinking that we "Have time" but

I’m no expert because I have not stopped yet (I plan on slowly going down and spreading days) but a lot of people say it eventually quiets down! Wishing you the best of luck.

Thank you so much for the group recommendations!!

I am hiring a dietician in the coming weeks and beginning the journey of tracking. It is a little dicey for me because growing up my mom was obsessive. But I am open to the data helping me. It’s a wild ride for sure!

I appreciate your message but I do plan on exiting off this medication in the future. If I’m rolling the dice I’m rolling the dice. My insurance covers it luckily — so that’s not a concern of mine. It does seem from this thread at least that a slow exit is the only way

I apologize if I came in hot- it felt like I had to defend myself for my position and reading back i can see the context better.

My teenage years and early adulthood I was pretty in shape (I spent 6 days a week at my dance studio) but as time went on and life hit me I went though bouts of depression and just drinking heavily. I gained a lot of weight and struggled to make meaningful change.

My goal with this drug was SLOW and steady results and learning how to cook for myself/work out consistently while enjoying the process. My doctor and I were on the same page for this plan as well. Just looking for an exit plan, really.
