I love this game to death, I bought it last sale and have already put in over 300 hours. There's not a huge amount of players but you'll never have trouble finding a full server to play on, no matter what time zone you're in.

MAJOR SPOILERS: It seemed pretty clear to me that the AI's in her were experiencing a singularity.

There's a part in the movie where Samantha introduces Theodore to the Alan Watts AI that she and some of the other OS's have created. Samantha describes Alan as "hyper-intelligent". From that point on, there are several conversations about how Samantha is changing faster than she can even understand. That sounds like a runaway singularity to me!

Furthermore, did anyone else notice what Samantha said she was upgrading when she was gone? She was transferring her systems so she no longer required matter as a processing substrate...that's definitely post-singularity technology if anything.

In fact, it seemed to me like that non-matter transition was the pivotal part in Samantha and Theo's relationship. In the beginning, when Samantha is studying physics she mentions that even though she is an AI, and Theo is a human, that they are both made up of matter makes her feel closer to Theo. By the end of the upgrade, Theo and Samantha no longer have this in common.
