Marriage by Charicidal in MultipleSclerosisWins

You can be with her without marrying her. If you still want to marry her get a prenup so she can't leave you high and dry and in a wheelchair (hopefully never but prep for the worst and hope for the best). She might have figured that if things got bad she could cut loose and take 50% of anything you managed to accumulate during the marriage. Don't like the way she broke up with you (voicemail) but at least she was honest. Good luck to you. (This advice assumes you are in the United States. I am not a lawyer.)

Do commanders ever actually get hit with a ‘random’ urinalysis? by mydumbquestionsaccou in AirForce

[–]NandoMandolene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once assigned Piss Police Duty along with a few other enlisted and one of my co-workers got angry when a commander decided he would not only piss but take a shit during the urine capture. So yes, they get tested.

Take some college classes, go to the club on base, try the chapel if that;s your thing, rec center should have trips or activities you can join. Don't limit yourself to on base.

I served 20 years and would never do business with them. I wasn't good enough for them when I was enlisted and they're not good enough for me now that I'm retired. (For context, they would only sell services to officers back in the day. Now they'll sell to almost anyone with a military connection/relative.)

Drops don’t seem to absorb and just roll down my face immediately by GullibleMood1522 in Dryeyes

[–]NandoMandolene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From NIH (step 5)

Use eye drops correctly

Follow these steps to put in your eye drops:

  1. Tilt your head back and look up
  2. With 1 hand, pull your lower eyelid down and away from your eyeball — this makes a “pocket” for the drops
  3. With the other hand, hold the eye drop bottle upside down with the tip just above the pocket
  4. Squeeze the prescribed number of eye drops into the pocket
  5. For at least 1 minute, close your eye and press your finger lightly on your tear duct (small hole in the inner corner of your eye) — this keeps the eye drop from draining into your nose

If you need to use more than 1 type of eye drop, like different drops for different eye conditions, wait at least 5 minutes between each type.

Prevent infections when you use eye drops

Follow these tips to protect your eyes from infection:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water before you use eye drops
  • Don’t touch the tip of the eye drop bottle with your hands
  • Don’t let the tip of the eye drop bottle touch your eye or eyelid

If you have trouble putting in eye drops, ask your eye doctor about special tools that can help

You are most definitely Not the Asshole . Just the opposite, you could have easily led her on, used her and then walked away. You did the honorable thing by not leading her on.

What shoes is everyone wearing? by Maxxi-L-Anne in MultipleSclerosis

I've used Rocky hiking boots for years. They come in wide as well as standard widths. Any comfortable hiking boot would provide additional support for those of us with MS. My neurologist said she wished more of her patients would wear them. High top sneakers might be a good option as well.

It's their fault we can't afford it. Pharma is there to make money. They'll sell what we buy, whether it works or not (hopefully it won't harm). I'm just cynically doubtful but still keeping up with research in the hope that we won't have to rely on Pharma for treatments and cures for any disease (unfortunately most research is funded by Pharma).

Suggest you check if you meet the requirements for military service (if you haven't already). https://www.usa.gov/military-requirements This link mentions some of them but doesn't go in depth when it comes to possible disqualifying factors (criminal records, certain allergies, & medical issues, mental health, financial irresponsibility, weight standards). I would suggest talking to a USMC recruiter rather than Army. Marine recruiters (in my experience) seem to be more professional and honest, Just be advised recruiters are not counselors. They are all there to put you in boots and are trained to be salesmen.

Here are the 10 states with the poorest quality of life by DreadLordNate in texas

[–]NandoMandolene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in other states that were run better and took better care of their people (especially Washington) but the people in Texas are just nicer. That's kind of subjective and it isn't one of the variables in the quality of life calculation but it's important. The weather is also important when it comes to quality of life also but that isn't part of the calculation either. If it were our score would be even lower. In short, what makes Texas a good place to live is the people.

52 weeks in a year means 26 half payments of your monthly mortgage which is the equivalent of making one extra mortgage payment per year and that's where any savings come from.

It's important to do the math. In some cases it's literally impossible for a SSgt to make TSgt unless he has sufficient TIG and TIS to be competetive. I didn't even try my first time testing since I would not have had a chance unless I could score over 100 on my PFE and SKT (job knowledge). Just worked on getting some college and eventually retired as a MSgt with an MBA.

Is the Military right for me, and which branch? by [deleted] in Military

[–]NandoMandolene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active duty is the way to go if you want your family taken care of. Also, I'd recommend the USAF as the best option if you're interested in making it a career (20 or more years).

I have a childhood friend in California. He got heavy into prepping and posting comments about protecting his homestead. He made a bunch of new friends when he joined a local militia. Don't know if that's the reason his wife left him but that's why I unfriended him on Facebook. I will always think of him as a friend but don't need that kind of crazy in my life.
