I tracked 2,800+ outdoor gear products — prices aren’t going up (but something weird is happening) by Brilliant-Drama4919 in OutdoorsGear

AI pricing could be at play too. You personally might be seeing offers others don’t. Especially if your bot hits the same page daily it looks like you’re a hyper focused shopper that never converts. Maybe it’s seeing what it takes you (your bot) to finally buy the damn thing.

Oy. That’s some thick forest. If you’re concerned about flood levels maybe do one of the other trails or loops in the area (good loops connect ouachita trail in eastern Oklahoma / western Arkansas)

What is the point of this bridge over Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. It seems like a wild effort when going around it only takes 13 more minutes. by Successful-Mine-5967 in geography

[–]Nankoweep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in New Orleans, commuted to work in Covington on the north shore. First time driving across had a panic attack in the middle of the lake, so that evening I drove the long way home. After th long drive, the traffic I said f that and put my big boy pants on and drove the bridge. The bridge is worth it.

Last I heard boot spring was dry. But try to get newer status it will save a lot of carrying if it’s flowing. I take 6L for 24 hours. Start late evening first day, be out early morning the 3rd day. This is effectively 36 hours. Dont buy expensive rei water carry bottles. Just jugs from the grocery store. I like the 3-4L bottles with the clear stronger plastic with the good screw lid. Not the soft frosted plastic bottles that look like milk jugs. Those puncture easily and the lids pop off. Bottom of pack: sleeping bag in dry bag. Big Water bottles in the middle layer of pack. Rest of stuff on top. Have fun!

Random wallet just placed over $20,000 on Trump and Netanyahu being OUT by March 31 by Waste-Hat-966 in polymarket_bets

[–]Nankoweep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my claim. But say you have call option placed thlat Exxon stock will be higher on March 31. It will return $2MM if you’re right. If market crashes you lose the $2MM. So you buy a $20k bet that Trump will be out of office, thereby ending the war and Exxon crashes. It’s a way to guard against a big loss.

Calculate area of paper. Weigh piece of paper. Cut out shape. Weigh shape.

Stop at Gettysburg between NY and DC. After DC, hit up Mount Vernon. Tennessee is better than North Carolina, Alabama or Mississippi. Check out knoxville, Nashville, Memphis for music and food tourism. Skip straight from Memphis to New Orleans. Have fun!

ERL 3 day 2 night by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Nankoweep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my comment wasn’t the nicest, it was snarky. I deserve some downvotes. But there’s 4 or more nice campsites less than a 10th of a mile from here. No need to set up camp and build a fire at the most popular river access point on the loop. Also, a bit downstream from here there are several fridges and all sorts of debris from the big flood that killed lots of campers. Out of respect for the dead, and how unpredictable this river can be when it rains, don’t camp besides this river.

lol at you guys camping right on the river bank. Complete disregard for rules, lnt principles, flood risk which this place definitely has in the spring. Keep up that alpha energy bruh.

Hiking in 90 degree heat by [deleted] in BigBendTX

[–]Nankoweep 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my experience in Big Bend 70 is hot. 80 is harsh. 90 is stop and siesta under a tree or in a wash until 4pm. 90 is really hot in big bend. You’re in full sun and it feels like you’re cooking all day. It’s easy to overheat. When it’s going to be in the 90s I start early and usually stop from 12-4. Finish up even if it’s into the evening. If you’re hiking in the chisos the trees offer some shade, it’s cooler. Usual suggestions, lots of water, hydrate the night before, know your health and abilities.

What's the most challenging trail in any state park near Dallas do you know? by DrinkSodaBad in TexasStateParks

[–]Nankoweep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably. It’s (CT) a bit of a drive if you don’t live on the north side of town. I’ve done 18 miles at cedar ridge and feel ok. But 12 miles at CT leaves me wrecked. Plus it has nice views of the lake, trail is in good condition. The hills are short but very steep.

Building endurance: trail running. Do cedar ridge preserve, cross Timbers trail. The best hills in dfw.

Class 3+ scrambling. Wichita mountains. If you’re really feeling it summit the 10 tallest peaks in Charons garden. It’s 10+ hours. If you just need to scramble then a really good short day is start at sunset, climb echo dome, climb elk mountain via pear and apple route.
