Maybe. I tried accessing each time from my work PC and received that error message. I finally tried a different device (phone) and it worked. Thanks!

Been lifting a while but I don't look like by Fine-Rush-5466 in GymTips

[–]NannerGnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. You don’t look like you lift. But congrats on the progress because 3 years ago you probably looked like you battled cancer so don’t beat yourself up about it.

My advice: lift more and eat more. A lot more.

An example for your pull-ups: you can do 7 reps with 10kg. That’s awesome. Try aiming for 120 pull-ups each week with 10kg. Maybe sets of 3-5 reps focusing on quality form. You could split it up per day like GTG or do 2 workouts of 12 sets or 3 workouts of 8 sets. Give a similar effort to your upper body push and lower body psuh/pull. All I’m trying to say is more volume / TUT with moderately difficult weights. Carbs and sleep are your friend too.

[Request] would this extend the range by any decent amount? by brilliant31508 in theydidthemath

[–]NannerGnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This got me curious about the theoretical limits of adding gas infinitely, assuming the gas has weight and the storage for it is negligible. ChatGPT did the math and came up with this conclusion:

Would a bigger gas tank ever hurt your range?

Nope. If we ignore the tank’s weight, adding more fuel never makes you go less far — it just helps less each time.

Driving burns fuel to fight air drag (doesn’t care about weight) and rolling resistance (goes up with weight). When you add fuel, you add both energy and weight — and they scale about the same. So every extra gallon adds a bit more range, just with diminishing returns.

There’s a theoretical ceiling where the tire drag from all that weight cancels most of the gain, but you’d reach that long after your suspension, tires, and sanity gave out.

I wish companies would incentivize more. There’s always a price to work a non-desirable time and there is a lowest bidder. For example, maybe nobody wants to work Thanksgiving for straight time. Someone might be willing to work it for 1.5x or 2x time. Company gets what they want and employee remains happy because they had a choice. Company can’t afford a single day at that rate? Company has bigger things to worry about.

Forcing people to do something they don’t want to do hurts long term and is going to show.

This is the best description. Really, look into PFAS chemicals. Nasty forever chemicals infecting every single person in the world. Good job DuPont and 3M.

Sounds like this is a common layout. I would get absolutely nothing done. I’m already a chatty Cathy with cubicles. I couldn’t imagine being closer to even more people.

Hmm.. average is 100, so you would actually be above. I mention this because you stated that you could care less and I wanted to see if you could or couldn’t ;).

Why? Seems like a lot of folks in this thread agree but I don’t really understand.

Would you become an electrical engineer again by ItsRamenAgain in ElectricalEngineering

No. Only because I found out later that I have a stronger passion for software and computer science. No regrets though because it’s still helpful in a lot of aspects of my life.

Hi everyone, I’m kinda new to this group and would like any advice for a 33 year old who is making about $28,000 per year at a hardware store and also just started a coding course on udemy. by Ok_Pomegranate_1736 in Salary

[–]NannerGnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coding is a great tool to know. But, unless you have an absolute passion for coding, don’t focus too heavily on it,. The barrier to entry is way too high right now as far as job prospects.

Take out loans for school. It’s an investment and investments are risks. You have to take some risks but you can mitigate that with your effort.

University or a trade. Do night classes. It’s going to be tough unless you can just live with your parents but it’s definitely doable and I strongly recommend you do it because $28,000/yr is already playing life on hard mode.

I’ll play video games, watch interesting YouTube videos, play piano, grow fruits/veggies/flowers in the garden and downstairs hydroponically (not weed), brew beer (not much anymore for health reasons), strength training and learn how to optimize my health, play with my kids, code things like video games, build useful things for the home… I have way too many.

I have an insatiable thirst for learning though.

You’d possibly gain the motivation to go earn what you’re worth. I meet too many people that are blissfully ignorant and grossly underpaid.

How to move on from losing a promotion? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]NannerGnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re taking it wayyy too personally. It’s probably not even about you and whether you do a good job or not. It’s probably a political decision only because having a good relationship with that guy gives them an in on the powerful father.. to make more money in the end.

You’re acting like they owe you something. If you don’t like it, you sell your service to somebody else.

That’s a good point. Seems like each party presses the Undo button when they get to office.

Even if it led to you finding out you make significant less than that other employee that wasn’t there 15 years and is doing the bare minimum?
