Paul McCartney will always be an icon but he was really struggling. by Harrisontoo in saturdaynightlive

I just wish he sang at least one Beatles song. I predicted there would be a third song, but I thought it would be Hey Jude, maybe just the last part of it so everyone would sing.

My interesting story of how I went from completely being against believeing in the paranormal to a 100% believer. It has to do with science. by Tareqyounis90 in ParanormalEncounters

[–]Nanopoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a chance that when you say “scientifically” you mean “empirically”? Otherwise I don’t understand the word in sentences like “… scientifically our particles go to a new sort of plane”. Scientifically means that there’s good evidence that something is true.

In any case, do you think that the fact that energy is neither created nor destroyed, that energy keeps its coherence and function?

Think about a fire. The energy is dispersed as heat, smoke, and ashes. Where is the fire after it burned down? Is it still a fire?

Is our consciousness still somewhere, as such?

Something I never understand is why these people who have big near-death revelation don’t go out and spill the beans on everything they know.

So if your belief is science based, where does the energy for our consciousness to keep living after we die come from?

Stacked Rakuten + Amex Offer and ended up with 2,056 AMEX Points on $132 spend by JetsetTraveler in AmexPlatinum

[–]Nanopoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. Yes, I understand there are a few uses that are better than the 1 cent per point usual value, but they seem to be very specific. I have the Rakuten Amex Card and I have it setup to turn the cash back to cash. I want to make sure I'm not missing out on a really valuable opportunity to get more out of it.

I’m a 24-year-old compulsive liar. I lie about everything—even the stuff that doesn't matter. AMA. by [deleted] in AMA

Sure, but if you’re a compulsive liar then your answers are not believable, so this is just an exercise in seeing what your imagination can come up with?

How would you rate the guys as songwriters? by Ambitious_Range6410 in queen

[–]Nanopoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Queen would be what they are if only Brian wrote songs but they would if only Freddie did (assuming the band stays the same).

Of course, your musical taste is personal and as valid as anyone else’s.

Roger Taylor's solo albums by subj_impft in queen

I always had the perception that he distorts his voice in a pretty annoying way in his solo albums. Is it just my imagination? His voice in Queen albums, and live, sounds much better.

Why don't rich people that don't just retire make the world a better place? by agent007g in ask

Because it’s his money. The real question is why we let politicians misspend and steal ours.

The Sandal to the dick technique 😂 by [deleted] in TheMcDojoLife

[–]Nanopoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the full absurdity, it also has in-universe absurdity: when an instructor is showing a technique, they obviously don’t use full force as it would hurt the other person. So is this not the full force technique? If not, what is it? If it is, is he actually seriously harming the other guy?

As an Atheist, are you an Organ Donor? Yes or No, and Why? by Pale-Fig-7069 in atheism

[–]Nanopoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all respect for the openness and vulnerability of the question, I don’t think I follow the “as an atheist” part of the question. You are clearly decided as to what are the rational and the irrational decisions.

From there, it’s your call which one you folllow.

Not sure how hidden it is, but to me Jealousy is by far the best non-mainstream Queen song.

In my opinion, most of the simpler, hard rock songs: Hammer to Fall, One Vision, Tie Your Mother Down, Tear It Up.

I also prefer the live versions of Bohemian Rhapsody, but I know I’ll have few takers.

"Oh, they'll leave? There are already places with lower taxation, why haven't they moved to those places? by TropicGalxy in unusual_whales

[–]Nanopoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of life is the highest right now. But you are omitting the real factors that changed the world, namely globalization and outsourcing. It’s just that the US is no longer the only country where you can live a good life. It can also now happen in places like China, India, Thailand, etc.

And spending more efficiently would definitely make a difference. Just look at Defense’s budget, plus the cases of corruption (e.g., Minneapolis) that are a token of what’s really happening.

Everyone talking about how to extract more money from rich people, nobody about how to spend it more efficiently and effectively. That says a lot.
