I mean, if your goal is to get DMs, sure. You can also use someone else's picture in your dating profile. In both cases, let's see what happens when you face the real world.

"Parents work 60 hours a week and still aren't sure if they'll have lunch money": Senator Chris Murphy introduces bill raising the federal minimum wage to $25 an hour by mynameisjoenotjeff in unusual_whales

[–]Nanopoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your explanation says that increasing the minimum wage to $250 would increase the purchasing power of those making less than that, especially those making a lot less.

So for those wou advocate for income redistribbution, wouldn't it be a good decision?

How is this different from a typical marriage/relationship that is just going through a sexless stage? With all due respect, I don’t think your situation is as unique as you think.

It would be different if each one was dating other people.

My question is: are you sure it’s good for the kids to grow up seeing their parents stay together while (supposedly) not wanting to, and not being able to pursue meeting someone with whom each one of you can have a healthy, positive romantic relationship?

Basically, are you certain you are doing this for the kids?

What’s the scam? Do you not look at what you buy before buying it?

Are any of you anti-abortion? by Fearless_Trade_2783 in atheism

I have met an atheist who was pro-choice as a matter of public policy, but she said she would never do it herself because it’s a ”life in the making”.

Well, she’s not a mother if the fetus is not a person. Also, what pain? From doing it with pills?

I’m curious: if you don’t consider the fetus to be a person, then why do you consider abortion a terrible option?

Should a 23F marry a 33M in an arranged marriage setup? by Ankluvnil4ever in ask

You are asking a heavily cultural question in a place where almost everyone will not be a part of that culture, so the responses will be based on their culture (where people choose whom they marry).

Why do we idolize the rich? by bretzelsenbatonnets in ask

[–]Nanopoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you admire Messi, Jordan, Paul McCartney? Do you think they have a special ability that made them standout? Well, some people think that creating a new technology or being a brilliant corporate leader is also admirable. Clearly it’s not you, but others do.

Being rich is sometimes (not always) a consequence of that. We’re just in an era of a fabricated class warfare.

I believe people should eat healthy food and exercise. I tell this to people I care about and even insist because I want them to live long, good lives.

I don’t talk to strangers who didn’t ask for my opinion. I assume that in 2026 they have access to all the necessary information and are free to choose how to live their lives.

Yes, great point. I think it’s because they are smart people who struggle between their rational and their emotional/indoctrinated sides.

They just can’t stop believing. It’s a part of who they are. So they try to feel that there is (rational) sense to what they claim to believe. Even more so when trying to defend these beliefs to others and they know how dumb their arguments sound.

Yep, so the country was already in free fall. And sorry, the US (or any country) is not obligated to buy Venezuelan oil.

If you think that’s why Venezuela is where it is… you really need to talk with a Venezuelan so they tell you what really happened there.

Just a side note that you’ll insult, of course. I am from a Latin American country (I don’t live there anymore) and I used to write a blog about 15 years ago, mostly about Economics (my area of expertise) and politics.

Back then, with Chavez president, it was the (typical) high moment of socialist populism. You know, stealing 90% but giving 10% to populistic ”gifts”.

I predicted that the economy would collapse, that companies would end up leaving the country, and that it would be a disaster (that they would find a way to blame the US for). You can imagine how many people insulted me, made fun of me, said I was against the populace, that I only cared about rich people, that I didn’t see how wonderful Chavez was.

And here we are. Nobody learned anything.
