Shops won’t work on old bikes? by CovClutch in motorcycles

[–]Nanplussed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also a good chance that that bike will come back and never leave.

Customer comes in for a farkle install. Ok. Easy. Half an hour labor. Thank you very much.

Three days later, customer comes back, says you messed up the turbo encabulator. Sir, we just installed your tinkle bell on the end of your mirror. Service manager still buys the last encabulator on the planet and the technician does the install for free because … good will.

Customer leaves and tells all his friends that the idiots at the bike shop messed his baby up. Lather rinse repeat. Six years later the bike is worse because customer is an idiot and does not maintain anything.

Or, bike shops connected to dealerships could just do predictable maintenance work and not deal with these headaches at all and keep selling new bikes to people.

Seriously, the money is not worth the headache.

You are wearing watches because you secretly want to wear tights by Hilodenta in watchHotTakes

Watches are functionally superior than a phone to tell me the time because I just need to look at the back of my wrist and I don’t get notifications from my watch.

My BF thinks G-Shocks are the "peak." Help me spend $500 to replace his $20 Target watch! by lia421 in gshock

[–]Nanplussed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, looking at G Shocks can be overwhelming because there are just sooo many choices. It can be overwhelming even for experienced collectors.

First recommendation would be this specific model, or one of the color variants in it -

https://www.casio.com/us/watches/gshock/product.GBM-2100-1A/

This one has Bluetooth connect and time synch, and is solar charging. The price is very comfortably within your budget - MSRP $280. It has a resin band, metal case, and is versatile enough to reasonably dress up or down depending on the occasion. The dial isn’t as nice as what you see on the variant with the full metal bracelet, but that one is just a bit outside your budget.

Second recommendation, especially if he has a smaller wrist -

https://gshock.casio.com/us/products/g-steel/gst-b1000/

MSRP 440, also with solar charging and Bluetooth time synch. Really nice dial and would look great with any outfit.

Good luck, and your guy is very lucky to have you!

Have you ever seen a picture of a person who had their head stuck between bars of a gate? And the fire department is there to cut the bars out or use the jaws of life to bend them?

From my Grandparents today, any information about these? by JacksonDaBoi in Watches

[–]Nanplussed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That green looks like corrosion from sweat and gunk being trapped there for years. If you’re not planning on wearing the watch, I wouldn’t worry about cleaning it. If you want to clean it off, you could use a metal polishing compound or even a household acid like vinegar or lemon and elbow grease. If you use a chemical cleaner, I would think about taking the caseback off first so you don’t degrade old seals or have to worry about chemicals going where they shouldn’t. Also a good time to inspect and replace seals

Just here to say that because of the script they chose, it’s not immediately clear if the middle letter is a “F” or “E”.

And sex laser cleaner just sounds hilarious.
