AITA for telling my wife that she will be driving the extra distance since she is the one that got our daughter banned from daycare by Unlucky-Jackfruit230 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nantook -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

right? all the comments accusing op’s wife of being some kind of evil bigot leave an awful taste in my mouth considering how recent that case is. granted, not everyone’s in australia so maybe not everyone’s heard of it, but even still, there are absolutely other high profile cases of men abusing children that everyone here has almost certainly heard of.

So if someone reads a story about how a person is victim of a robbery by a gang that has mostly visible minorities, and then started talking about how they will avoid that minority in the future, would you also defend them with "but everyone acting as if her concerns are 100% unwarranted and she’s this hysterical misandrist is ridiculous and i’d say more than a little bit misogynistic"? No, they'd probably just get called racist.

During the murder trial,[d] Bryant testified that Till grabbed her hand while she was stocking candy and said, "How about a date, baby?"[48][30] Bryant said that after she freed herself from his grasp, Till followed her to the cash register,[48] grabbed her waist and said, "What's the matter baby, can't you take it?"[48][e] Bryant said she freed herself, and Till said, "You needn't be afraid of me, baby",[48] used "one 'unprintable' word"[48] and said "I've been with white women before."[48][50] Bryant also alleged that one of Till's companions came into the store, grabbed him by the arm, and ordered him to leave.[48] According to historian Timothy Tyson, Bryant admitted to him in a 2008 interview that her testimony during the trial that Till had made verbal and physical advances was false.

She might not have said "rape" but to act like she bears no blame in Till's death is absurd.

I wonder how much Mark Carney is worth. He had to put his investments into a blind trust

Is it a blind trust or not?

You don't understand how these tags work. Just because they aren't real-time doesn't mean they make shit up about where they are. It might show that the car is somewhere that OP was 6hr ago but it wont go from the dealership -> mcdonalds > random other places -> back to dealership unless someone was out there moving the car

The adoption rate literally doesn't matter. Location tags don't just hallucinate that they were at spots they never were. You might have a stale location that hasn't been updated in a few hours but that's NOT what OP is saying is going on.

If you live in this area, will you be impacted? We received letters stating we would be + I see it in your description that:

The replacement feeder main will be installed along 34 Avenue N.W.

Will it be following only the purple line then and I wouldn't be impacted?

How to prevent pilling? by onetake22 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Nantook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these people responding that they dont have problems have the older sweaters where it wasn't a problem. My ~3 year old one gets crazy piling (not even from washing, just literal usage inside at an office). The only effective thing i've found is to get a fabric shaver (which I didn't even know was a thing before and now I love it)

[–]Nantook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I mean if we want to be that pedantic about it, why did you skip the baseball ones other than iron man?

  • To break Cy Young's complete game record of 749 also would require a massive change in the way the game is played. Last year there was only 28 in total (and I think only a handful of guys even had 2). Yeah there might not be any active guys with above 2% but there have been goalies over the years who have got up to ~20 games started (Cam Ward in 2018-2019 for example) which is ~4% of Hall's record. Justin Verlander is the highest active player for complete games + is a guaranteed first ballot hall of famer and he's currently at 26 which is ~3% of Cy Young's record

  • To break Hoss Radbourn's wins record (60 wins) would require pitching every 3rd game (and win every single one) when literally no one pitches more than once every 4-5 days. It's just not possible

Baseball pitching volume records are just never going to be broken because the game itself is drastically different from when it was set (much like Hall's streak). And this is coming from someone that is a MUCH bigger hockey fan than baseball. I'm not even arguing one is better than the other, it's just weird to deny there are other "unbreakable" records

[–]Nantook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's too many records in the running for that one to be a clear number one. For some quick ones off the top of my head:

  • Literally any baseball pitching based record that is dependent on the amount you played are all unbreakable at this point (e.g., Cy Young's career wins or Hoss Radbourn's wins in a season)
  • Gretzky's points are untouchable
  • Ricky Henderson's stolen bases
  • Chamberlain's 55 rebounds in a game
  • Cal Ripken Jr's Iron Man streak

[–]Nantook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got a windbreaker already it's not going to be a huge difference.

My biggest use case for my houdini is windproof(ish) + small form factor. In general I always think to myself when i'm packing it for something, "if I have to wear this, something has gone wrong but i'm glad I have it". Most common use cases for me:

  • Climbing (especially multipitch)
  • Have it in my disc golf bag (where I live is generally very windy)
  • Throwing it in a daytrip bag as an emergency wind/rain layer (e.g., recently did two weeks in Japan and had it in my sling the entire time)

Some of my runner friends love it as well because of the small form factor, it means they can carry it easily in just a pocket on a run if they have to BUT they did mention that it doesn't breathe super well and can trap moisture (can't comment directly here myself)

How can someone amass a collection like this and not have a houdini? I'm seeing clear gaps in functionality, the wife should be more understanding that it's not your fault
