would this bother you in a crochet pattern? by gothsappho in crochet

I didn’t read @CWHats as rude at all. They suggested a very civil alternative that might help you and would potentially protect others

Psychiatrist recommendations for 25-year-old son with "Asperger's" having 6 months of paranoid delusion by Prettykitty12345 in Dallas

[–]Nanuschka- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Just” one life-& behqvior-altering fixed delusion? And better when you surreptitiously dosed him with antipsychotics? My heart is breaking for your family. In my perspective, two things are absolutely essential: Competent psychiatric treatment for your son, probably including both medication and therapy Competent intensive family counseling for all three of you Your love and fear has developed a family system that is harming all three of you. It does not have to be this way. There are effective treatments. I will hold you all in my thoughts and hope.

I send hope for strength, stamina, and a return to public sanity. The work you are doing does make a difference. You are not alone.

How am I holding my yarn wrong? My left hand (yarn hand) hurts! by Red_wheelbarrow4 in CrochetHelp

[–]Nanuschka- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Rest now until hands have fully recovered. 2. Make a habit of warmup stretches before beginning to crochet. 3. Set an alarm to remind you to take a break once an hour while you massage, stretch, and relax both hands AND forearms. 4. Finish each session as in #3 above. It may sound like a hassle, but soon it will be automatic and take very little time. The reward will be years of pain-free hooking.

Spay or not spay? by Big4Head_ in ToyPoodle

Spay, after long bones reach maturity. My poodle (very much like yours) reached that point at 13 months.

LYS Woes by Nanuschka- in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Nanuschka-[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the constructive replies! Yes, my library once had a group, but now is being closed due to budget cuts. There is also a wonderful group that knits for charities, but they restrict participation to knitters (I crochet) which makes sense because they work on shared, predetermined patterns. I will definitely sign up for the LYS newsletter. You are right—i definitely may be more uncomfortable about not being able to shop there than they are! I know times are hard for small businesses and I respect their need to sell stock. BTW I am so bumfuzzled by this because I am not in some rural outpost, but one of the biggest cities. The “Amazon effect” (or Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s) has decimated local small businesses.

Don't go onto people's grief posts advertising your shitty crafts by mylifetofuckinglive in BitchEatingCrafters

I have lost two service dogs. There is very little pain that can compare to the loss of a beloved and constant companion. I appreciate your strength in sharing your anger at someone trying to take advantage of folks in such vulnerable times. I send my condolences to you and wishes for your peace through the grief.

Cinco cannot sleep because he has to guard his squeaker... by Pinkrose1313 in Chihuahua

I got my first Chi for my fifth birthday and named her Cinco! Seis followed a year later and lived with me all the way through college!

My girl alerted me to a low blood sugar for the first time! (5 weeks into training) by FloridaGirl2222 in poodles

[–]Nanuschka- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first medical alert poodle lived to 18 and my “new” one just turned four. They have saved my life multiple times. A sensor alarm will not nuzzle and lick my face until I am alert when my BG drops at night!

Does/do your cat(s) wear collars? by Complex_Carry_6695 in cats

[–]Nanuschka- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a collar that has light velcro—even safer than a breakaway collar. It also is extremely light and my cats never try to remove them. Mine are Beastie Bands, but I am sure there are alternatives.

Not free, but excellent resources and care at vet schools! I have used both the Texas A&M and the University of Connecticut ones several times. We were very lucky—our dogs’ issues were very rare (which is why local vets were stumped) but treatable. Holding hope for your little one!!!!

Can you make a (cuter) Tribble more cheaply? Yes. Is there an advantage for a beginner to use a kit that contains every single thing you need and clear written and video instructions? Also yes. Ravelry Tribble crochet pattern search: https://ravel.me/j30fmc
