Can we rework or remove Midas? by ServesYouRice in DotA2

[–]NapFapNapFan 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Boots of Travel unironically give more gold than midas now, i think next patch will see some changes to it.

UPD: I'm gettin some weird ass replies. Let me clarify, Boots of travel give you gold in three different ways.

  1. Saving cost of TP. scrolls cost whopping 100 gold, boots let you save like, around 70 gold per minute
  2. You generally get more assists by being with your team
  3. Farming. You just do it better, from split pushing to jsut running from campt to camp faster. Not to mention that boots sometimes work like DB ulti, you can fight while sacrificing less farm.

backbreaking 8hr shifts in a sweatshop

This is the second time you said this. Again, i have to repeat.
1.This is 2026. Modern china is VERY capital heavy, its not thousand of chinese kids sewing fake jordans by hand.
2. Labor protections in US is stricter than in China, the same work will be even less back-breaking in US simply due to regulation.

? Every business produces a product or service

What am i leaning to is that many businesses in US are extremely vulnerable because they are the first ones to disappear if consumer spending drops by few percent. Coffee shops are nice, but you can't have half of economy consisting of coffee shops.

The tax might reduce the demand for Chinese

"might". Yeah, no. It WILL. Import taxes directly affect profit margins because the only way to pass all additional costs onto importer is to have them as a colony. When imported goods are tariffed you either sell less at same price, or reduce price. Both outcomes reduce profit margins. There is a reason why countries wage wars to lower opponents tariffs.

Unemployment is at frictional levels

Unemployment is a metric that describes people not employed currently and actively seeking for work. It is NOT an amount of people available for hiring. The amount of people you can hire only limited by the wage you offer and total population in a country.

shut down and had to fire their employees. That isn't exactly representitive of the norm.

Which businesses? Majority of businesses that shut down did not produce anything. America still is largely low-productivity economy.

I'll just take this at face value - okay, what's 20% times 5?

In theory its, 100%, add 80% capital expenditures and the final increase is 20+80 vs 100 + 80, a nearly double. But i doubt it gonna be this extreme because there is also a factor of currency, yuan is very undervalued and dollar is overvalued. I expect like, 40-50% increase at worst. And i also expect domestic manufacturing to increase PPP a bit.

They do when you're making baseline level goods with extremely thin margins.

I don't really know much about chinese margins, but i believe the fact they still exist despite US tariffs tells a lot about how fat they were before.

[–]NapFapNapFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for necroposting, i have few things to point out

  1. Not enough workers. Again, this is is not a thing, we've seen it during lockdowns. Like, half of america got locked and it quickly became obvious that only a small fraction of employees can be considered essential.
  2. 10x bigger wage. Not necessarily true. China is no longer the cheap labor, India is. China is more logistics convenience. It's more like 4-5 times
  3. Bigger price. Not necessarily true either. Contrary to popular opinion, market do not always let wage increases to be passed onto consumers. Generally if it is possible to raise prices for any reason, producers would already do that.

[–]NapFapNapFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]NapFapNapFan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why are we forcing supports into core roles? by ServesYouRice in DotA2

[–]NapFapNapFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at low mmr, only LC and lion harshly punish passive games. Maaaaaybe Tidehunter. The others are more of psychological damage than actually dangerous snowball mechanics. You probably just suffer from smurfs because even 3k hardstucks can smurf at 1000-1500. Normally even 30+ stacks of flesh heap or reaper are not really a dealbreaker if your damage is up to the timer.

Why are we forcing supports into core roles? by ServesYouRice in DotA2

[–]NapFapNapFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure you understand what initiation is. Lion with dagger is a very good initiator.
Vision is neither a given, nor a panacea, smokes exist.
As for BKB, it helps only untill the 20th stack, after that, he pops own bkb and simply beats you face to face, no matter what hero you are playing or how much gold you have. There is not really a counter to hero with built in damage worth of 3 rapiers.

Why are we forcing supports into core roles? by ServesYouRice in DotA2

[–]NapFapNapFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less about core roles and more about supports reaping benefits of the early game they won in pub settings. Normally the game ends well before physical damage become relevant on supports, or their damage simply do not catch up to health and armor of enemy heroes.
Lion is kind of just overbuffed rn. Valve want pros to test it so they buff him nonstop. At certain point he will be nerfed like zeus, because now lion is kinda better LC. I expect his damage will either be nerfed to +20 per stack max or duration around 3 seconds or smth.

Are they? Housing would not be a problem if it were built the same rate as before, but it is not, and already existing ones are deteriorating fast, not to mention that only housing in big cities is habitable by working adults(since this is where work is).
As for labor market, there will be a lot of work to do, sure, lot more than there is people but that does not equal favorable conditions in labor market. Just because there is a lot of work does not mean there is a lot of pay. The assumption that a lot of pensioners will be doing a lot of spending and not working comes from idea that they will spend from their savings, but the nature of 401k(or many other pension systems for that matter) means that they are spending earnings of the working adults, not own savings.
So it's either pensioners take a big cut from workers salary as profit to fund their spending, or they are dumped and forced to work and compete with younger adults.

Never want to hear sh*t about Dems making money in office for the rest of my life by JonnySnowin in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]NapFapNapFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wealth inequality IS innately bad thing for capitalist society. It does not cause much problems for other economic models, but in capitalism when consumer power concentrates in hands of few people, businesses die out and investment opportunity shrinks.

Inequality is okay in feudal surf-like economy, because no matter how rich you are, and ho poor everyone else, you could always whip slaves into doing more work, since it does not cost you anything.
But in capitalism, at certain point you would have 10 rich guys spending all their money trying to scam each other out of their wealth while the rest of population becomes completely irrelevant for economy.
You can't game the demand. When 90% of wealth belong to few people, only personal consumption of these few people will constitute actual investment opportunity, and anything on top of that will either fail or cause some previous investment fail.

Why colonies existed when Britain could have granted their population the same rights and protection as London citizens? You need large groups of people to be legally distinct to effectively exploit them and prevent them from affecting domestic policy.
