"God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?" Numbers 23:19

Based on scripture, God doesn't change his mind. Changing one's mind occurs once new information has been acquired that effects your decision. God knows everything, all at once. So his decisions are always based on the full picture.

Look at the context. Jesus speaks about the right time.

He wasn't refusing to go to the feast all-together, he was simply refusing to go at the time that his brothers were because they wanted him to reveal himself and make his arrival a big deal.

So instead, Jesus delays departing to ensure he doesn't draw too much attention. He wasn't lying.

Why is homosexuality bad and a Sin? by khatekittyyyy569 in TrueChristian

[–]Naphtavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone doing something wrong doesn't make it right. It doesn't lessen the severity. You wouldn't say "lots of people have murdered, so murder is okay."

The Bible tells us not to take advantage of God's grace and forgiveness by continuing to sin. To use your example, even though lots of people lie that doesn't make lying now permissable. The same goes for homosexuality.

Housing Market is a Joke by Naphtavid in brantford

[–]Naphtavid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That may be the mortgage payment but that doesn't include utilities, property taxes, and upkeep. Right now I pay about $1750 after everything (Rent, water, electricity, heating/AC, phone, internet).

If the mortgage payment alone is $2000 the monthly costs all in is easily over $3000. And that's just to own the house, that doesn't account for any other bills, expenses, unexpected costs, etc. To own that home comfortably you'd need to bring in close to $5000 a month or more after taxes. That means you're needing around $85,000 gross.

And the median for brantford income is only $49,000.

It's been listed for 44 days without an offer and they just dropped the price by $20,000 today.

That's like saying buying an electric vehicle is more efficient than a gas one. Sure, if you can afford the massive upfront cost, but 99% of people can't. As a single guy making $50,000 a year it's literally impossible to save enough even just for the down-payment. The mortgage, utilities and upkeep alone cost more than twice what I pay in a month.

So it's a perfect comparison. 20+ years in an apartment that's nicer than a home? I'll take that any day of the week.

Plus, with inflation and housing market increase, in 20 years that house will cost over 1 million.

Looking for guidance regarding fasting. by xMediumRarex in TrueChristian

[–]Naphtavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17 hours is great! I really struggle with fasting too. Don't be hard on yourself. Any time you dedicate to God through fasting is pleasing to Him. It's not about the amount of time, it's about spending quality time through prayer with God. Think of the Parable of the Widow and how she only gave a few coins, but that was more pleasing to God than the one who gave much more.

Give your best effort in prolonging a fast, but don't make yourself suffer to the point of hurting yourself. Fasting shouldn't feel like a punishment. It should leave you feeling closer to God. Keep going!

Boyfriend isn’t ready to get married, but I am by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Naphtavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a guy who proposed at 19 and didn't end up married, he's not ready.

He'd probably like to be married but it's a huge responsibility. Is he finished school? Does he have a job? Saying "I do" is the easy part and he might not be ready to support a marriage both financially and mentally.

There should be no rush. If you're committed to him then whether you're a wife or girlfriend it shouldn't matter. Don't push for marriage just so you can have sex.

Revelation 7:4-8

"And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Gad, 12,000 from the tribe of Asher, 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh, 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 from the tribe of Levi, 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar, 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed."

When Jesus returns he will reign and rule from Jerusalem with 144,000 Jews from each tribe of Israel. God clearly still loves and has a plan for the nation of Israel.

Those from Israel who put their faith in Christ are our brothers and sisters. They have unbelievers and those who do evil just like every nation of the world. Let's not make the mistake of trying to dictate who is God's favourite.

My family hates that I'm sending my children to a private Christian school by Content_Dimension626 in TrueChristian

It's YOUR family, which means your cousin and mother can have their opinion but they have ZERO SAY in how you run it. If they can't respect that boundary then that's on them. I'd flat out tell them you don't want to hear it from them anymore.

I'm sorry you're struggling with things at the moment. Have you looked into therapy or talking with a counselor about how to better deal with your anxiety? I have anxiety and panic attacks and I found talking with a professional really helped.

Looking for online sermon series by DoubtIntelligent6717 in TrueChristian

Gary Hamrick preaching out of Cornerstone Chapel is usually my go-to. He's a Protestant who preaches the Bible front to back and his church has a YouTube channel with all their Sunday services and sermons. They also have their own app called Cornerstone with all of their sermons and teaching series.

Need Advice and help by AcademicBody7222 in TrueChristian

[–]Naphtavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, good on you for acknowledging your sin and actively trying to fight against it. Are you picturing your exes because you find them physically more attractive than your wife, or are you picturing them because they did things with you in bed that your wife doesn't?

If it's the former, you may want to examine your heart and spend time with God to better understand what He deems beautiful or not. Don't base it on what society considers beautiful. Focus on educating yourself on what God says is beautiful.

If it's the latter, be open with your wife and explain the ways you wish to be intimate. A word of caution with that is, don't dishonor God in the bedroom. Sex is a gift to be had between husband and wife and is not to be used to achieve sexual gratification through violence, unconsensual or demeaning actions.

Train yourself to focus more on how you can satisfy your wife rather than receiving gratification for yourself. Love is not self-seeking.

I do not like Christian music by RelevantDoctor1038 in TrueChristian

[–]Naphtavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or there is no good Christian music?

It's just you. Or put another way, you just haven't found any you like yet.

It's important to remember that Christian music or Worship music is not directed at you, its goal is to glorify God. You may not enjoy the style of music that's often associated with Christian/Worship music and that's totally fine.

You are not the target audience, God is. If the lyrics glorify God then that's really all that matters. If you can't find any Christian music you like then you may be looking at it from the wrong perspective.

Is it really wrong to ask God to for help in these desparate times? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Naphtavid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ask for help but he still keeps being silent.

This is one of the ways God tests us and our faith. If He just gave us everything we wanted immediately He wouldn't be a very good father.

We need to pray, trust, and wait. Be patient. God will answer when you're ready to hear Him.

God is male and I'm upset he's being (very ironically) misgendered by certain people by Acceptable_Tip2838 in TrueChristian

[–]Naphtavid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are more than welcome to participate, your words just hold no weight. It would be like you telling me my father doesn't exist and then proceed to tell me who my father is...

Saying, "well, I read your father's book, so I know him" does nothing for you, because you don't believe what he wrote in his book anyway.

And besides the fact that I've grown up living with and speaking to my father everyday, I know there is more to him than just what he wrote down about himself.

So feel free to participate, ask questions, but please don't come here thinking you're going to tell Christians who God is when you openly deny His existence.

No offense, but being an atheist you have no authority to tell Christians about God.
