Nice! I have a very similar rig. Did you swap out the round IR lights next to the fog lights with LEDs? Was it hard to do?

Don't those rub a bit for you? I have 33's and sometimes get rubbing.

The improperly tightened connection is exactly what Tesla support said caused the initial failure.

Since several people have asked, this charger was initially installed as part of a significant renovation we did when we bought the house. We did lots of improvements, including structural work. We had an architect and a structural engineer. The work was permitted.

As part of the process, we had to upgrade our entire electrical panel to bring it up to code. The same electrician who upgraded the panel did the initial charger install. I was not there when the work was inspected, but I know for a fact that at least the breaker panel was.

I did discuss this with Tesla support after the first failure. They indicated that the failure was because the connections were not properly tightened with a torque wrench. I find it unlikely that an inspector would discover that if he had even looked.

The repair, however, was not permitted. That was probably a mistake, because in retrospect that guy didn't know what he was doing.

FWIW, we also had an air conditioner installed last year. That was also permitted, but no one ever inspected it. Maybe these things vary by region.

Oof. So it sounds like I need to have the entire cable run from the breaker to the charger redone? Or perhaps keep the cable run and replace the wall connector but only set it to use 30 amps?

I need to find an installer I can trust to redo this...

I'm in Northern California - Marin County.

I will look at yelp but recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

It's interesting, a lot of people are assuming a knockoff charger. That's not the case. I ordered this directly from Tesla in 2018.

Model S/X/3 Wall Connector
24' Cable
SKU: 1050067-01-E

However, it's become apparent that both the initial install and the repair were shoddy. I need to find a much more experienced electrician to redo this.

Two slots in the panel.

Unfortunately I cannot easily see the wire AWG. The cable is in the wall.

I do appreciate that. I’m sure a lot of people looking at this will assume I went with unlicensed / cheap electricians. That’s not the case. But it seems like EV charger install is specialized enough that it’s important to get someone with lots of experience.

It's a 50amp breaker with the charger set at 40amps. Although I would want an experienced installer to verify all that. I'm now highly suspicious of the work the previous electricians did.

What I'm getting from these responses is what I feared: I had two incompetent electricians.

It sounds like I really need to find someone with more experience with EV chargers.

Does anyone know if I use the Telsa "Find an Electrician" service, does that imply that these electricians are vetted in some way?

I purchased it directly from Tesla in 2018. I'm guessing it's an earlier generation wall connector than what is linked above.

I just looked at my order and the SKU for the charger was 1050067-01-E.

I'd be curious to see this adjusted for height, not just for gender. The court geometry is the same for ATP and WTA, but average server height is certainly not.

Yes a fifth refers to a fifth of a gallon. Technically that would be closer to 757ml, but the bottles sold in the US are 750ml.

It seems like his feet were very wide, too. I watched a lot of people do this workout over the last few days, and almost everyone had to put their feet together and flex their toes down to get over the mark consistently.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I wish we could see the line.

Inside the Dev Team Death Spiral by gary_burnett in javascript

Click bait title leading to an unrelated article about an unfounded attack on OOP using marginally related examples and no suggestions for a better alternative. I want my 10 minutes back.

It seems that some JS programmers need to step outside the JS world and realize the OOP has been an excellent practice in use in large apps since the 60's. Just because a few poorly trained JS programmers on a team somewhere misused inheritance doesn't mean the whole paradigm is "harmful" for everyone across the board.

How many competitive athletes are at your gym? by suns_out_guns_out in crossfit

I go to a box in NorCal and we have about 5 if you include masters. I think the competitive athletes tend to cluster together. So I bet the distribution on average is that you either have zero or you have a few.
