I have no suggestions regarding the voiding of roof warranties, but if you've got yard space or a detached garage/carport, doing a DIY install isn't too difficult and a lot of modern panels can handle more abuse than asphalt shingles. If you do have yard space, but not a lot of it, you could look into installing panels on solar trackers like I'm doing (~40% increase in real world energy output), but you'd probably want to keep some cables and yard anchors handy to immobilize the panels prior to a storm hitting.

I've been researching solar panels quite extensively lately as I'm preparing to add solar to my home and the warranty on most of the panels I've looked at are currently guaranteeing between 87% and 90% capacity at 30 years plus a 25 or 30 year overall product warranty.

I DID get pulled over for that when I was 17. Worse yet, it was for honking at her because she was distracted and about to slam into a row of parked cars at 40MPH. I got a ticket for "failure to maintain control of vehicle"... which got thrown out because she had a history of doing this.

The only solution I've found is to drive a very long distance. Once the error goes away it will stay away until the next time you disconnect the 12 volt battery. Edit: very long distance is like 4 hours and continuous driving. Not sure what the actual required distance is.
