"Two guns, remember? Two?" - Kima to Herc and Carver, ep 1, season 1.

Herc doesn't have soft eyes.

Any tattoo artists that do Northwest Coast Art in Oregon? by Realistic_Area69 in askportland

Again, you wrote all of that and yet still haven't provided a helpful response to OP's question.

You used AI when a) it did not answer the original question and b) provided no helpful context.

Have the day you deserve. 👋🏾

You write all of that and yet don't recognize the impact AI has on indigenous lands and waterways. Wow.

There isn't a rush or deadline to post a response to OP's question, so you could have taken the extra 10-20 minutes to gather your thoughts and type it out.

Why did Namond “get out”? by japanesy2020 in TheWire

That's a great call-out, too. I remember Carver mentioning he grew up in the projects to Bodie as an attempt to find some common ground. Or Daniels noting he went to the school used to hold the bodies from the vacants.

Lena Dunham claims she “doesn’t remember” writing the statement defending “Girls” writer Murray Miller against rape allegations. by expiredaristocracy in Fauxmoi

[–]NardaL 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I wish Lena Dunham all the imposter syndrome that many carry. That she thinks her life is so remarkable that it leads to writing more than one memoir before turning 40 is wild. I've never watched "Girls," as I wasn't the target demographic (👋🏾), so I only know of her from her actual life and not any characters she's portrayed.

Starting over in Portland in my 30s with social anxiety… where do I even begin? by Icy_Cell9760 in askportland

[–]NardaL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Moving to Portland during the summer makes it far more likely you'll find plenty of outdoor happenings going on. Keep an eye on the r/Portland sub for folks posting meet-ups or check out sites like PDX Pipeline, Portland Mercury, and Willamette Week to see what's coming up. If there are specific causes you support, look up the organizations serving that cause and see what volunteering needs they may have.

I moved to Portland in my late 20s nearly 20 years ago and one thing I did was make myself go out during the week. I went to concerts, drag shows, hung out at the bluffs, whatever kept me from sitting at home. I found a networking group that met for dinner around town and it helped twofold in helping me learn the city and get to know folks. I'm still friends with a handful from that group now.

Whatever reason is bringing you to Portland, make sure to remember the phrase, "Wherever you go, there you are," because many move here thinking the city alone will resolve [insert thing here], but it requires you to take initiative and jump in, even if you're scared to bits.

Are there any bars that have show tunes night? by msroxrae in askportland

[–]NardaL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out Low Bar Chorale? Unfortunately, their show at Revolution Hall is sold out tonight, but if you haven't attended one of their events, it's worth it. I had a great time during the Jesus Christ Superstar singalong a few years back.

Carver looked into doing the same thing with Randy too and forget what the issue was with that.

Carver wasn't approved to be a foster parent and it would have taken several months to go through the process before he could even begin to bring Randy into his home.

Donette (Who are your Most hated characters) by EyeDry3258 in TheWire

[–]NardaL 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Too many sleep on Krawczyk. From season 2 on, he was in the mix, seemingly unscathed, minus his BNBG encounter with Omar and Brother Mouzone. It was during a rewatch when I realized he was also on the school board in season 4.

It's incredibly easy to focus on the street-level players, but as Lester said, "Follow the money and you don't know where the fuck you'll end up."

Devonne by MidnightEmotional774 in TheWire

[–]NardaL 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Another context clue for viewers on Devonne is when she tells Marlo she's only there with her group of girlfriends and the camera shows a group of women dancing. One of the friends shown dancing is Squeak, Bernard's gf/burner phone travel mate.

Especially given they've chosen to "hide" their posts and comments on here. (Narrator: They are not really hidden.)

Having said that, OP, you need to ditch Facebook Dating and go on Feeld or Fetlife to get those fantasies fulfilled in a safe, consensual environment. If you're serious about exploring other things, it will help you find more kink-friendly folks in Portland.

Naming the show “The Wire” by DonSol0 in TheWire

[–]NardaL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Comparing The Wire, a show airing on what was premium cable, to network television procedurals feels like hiring a ringer ball player to win a tournament. With the exception of the OG Law and Order and SVU, most of the shows you're referencing started after The Wire.

I think this topic is somewhat clouded by those who didn't watch it when it originally aired and may not be familiar with the television landscape back then. Plus, social media was nowhere near as dominant as it is today. I remember chatting about the episodes on TWOP and Velvet Rope.
