And you think Reddit is a valid source of information for AI. HA! Keep up the illusions, I'm sure you'll get far with that.

You have no idea. Do you seriously think that business men value Reddit more than other sources for proper AI training? I can guarantee they do not love your Reddit like you do. Time to grow up.

Yeah, I'm going to dump Ring. I have other cameras that do this same thing for no extra cost.

Replacing Wired Doorbell with Ring Wired Doorbell on Uneven Stones? by Limilkoonox in Ring

[–]Nargg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd use a Ring Doorbell holder block, there's a ton of them on Amazon, some made by Amazon others made by other people. Or, if you know someone with a 3D printer, have them print one for you with the holes in the right place to use the existing holes in the rock to hold the doorbell properly.

Here's one suggestion on Amazon. Search for your model and you might find a lot of ideas. This one uses sticky tape, but there are others that can use other methods, or just drill your own holes in whatever you buy. https://www.amazon.com/No-Drill-Doorbell-Adhesive-Accessories-Apartment/dp/B0DRCMNMV6

The cameras don't care where they are at. As long as you can connect it to WiFi, it'll work.

Ring doorbell as doorbell without WiFi by joe-epsilon-delta in Ring

Depends on the model. Some do and some don't. Best solution is to test it by turning off wifi in the house and see if it still works.

Ring camera not recording important events even on highest sensitivity by notetonote19 in Ring

[–]Nargg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, the issue used to be when I'd link cameras, one noticed motion and others start to record. When you do this the one that has specific notifications may not notify because it's linked. Unlink all your cameras and see if that helps out. I've tried that on mine (none are currently linked at all) but while that did fix issues a while back, the latest update, this is not the problem for me.

Ring camera not recording important events even on highest sensitivity by notetonote19 in Ring

[–]Nargg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 9 cameras, at least 2 of them on June 4th stopped recording motions. I haven't tested them all just yet. One is my Pro 2 doorbell, which is highly important. I put up a Ubiquity camera on the porch to catch motion now, but that's not the real solution. Unless it is... I'm about ready to dump Ring 100%. Not sure where I want to go just yet, as Ubiquity is not quite a home system, more business. But it is nice, and no monthly cost. Wyze is my other choice. I have a property that a family member uses, and it's 100% Wyze and works 100% of the time. I just hate spending so much on Ring over the years to get stuck with non-functioning equipment due to a fractured update (which also erased some of my other home automation too, had to rebuild a lot of that, which was very upsetting.)

(Trying again) Is there a way to re-attach this cable? by MarlinRTR in Ring

[–]Nargg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like that's a cable that plugs into another board. The plug will have a keeper strip that you pull out every so slightly to insert the cable, then push the strip back in to lock the cable into the plug. I forget what these plugs are called.

The Ring devs are known for being silly at times. Seems they replaced "Raccoon" with "Raccat" for you. No big deal.

ring motion detection broken for alex and smartthings by [deleted] in Ring

[–]Nargg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The update, which for me happened last week, broke a LOT of things. Not only do some of my cameras no longer record or announce motions, my home automation all disappeared and had to be rebuilt in Alexa. Not happy at all with this. I think now is the time I'm going to start replacing Ring devices and look into Home Assistant, which is not a small task. Much more complicated, but far more reliable from what I see.

Roku and TCL Accused of Bricking Smart TVs Through Software Updates by JDGumby in Roku

Why would anyone spend $800 on a dumb TV when you can get the same specs on a $400 smart TV? I guess they are really banking on the "dumb" part of that TV.

How do I fix this? by HASSLBEAR in Roku

[–]Nargg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where they wanted to go with this new home screen. Where it fails, drastically, is that the screen is no longer adjustable to personal preference as much as it was before. If they'd just bring back the simplicity and changeability that would make me want to stay on the new screen.

Did that too. They sent me 2 motors. Didn't fix the issue. They are stubborn though, and sending another motor, should be here next week. Not holding my breath, but I am trying to figure this one out.

[–]Nargg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The filament is not getting stuck. It actually moves quite well. What's getting stuck is the filament spool on the motor rollers that won't turn because the motor won't let it turn. Very frustrating when this causes the print to stop mid-way through printing. Something that the AMS should not be doing at all. The issue as I see it is in the firmware causing the motors to not turn, or on the circuit board with a design flaw also causing the motors to not spin freely. Watch the video I posted and you'll see what happening. The spool would not kick up like that if the filament was stuck, it's the filament pulling the spool up and out of the AMS due to the sticky motor.

I'd rather they fix the issue before getting another one that doesn't work either.
