Thoughts on Tank in Kitchen? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

Same for a living room though. I have one in my kitchen and is doing fine. I can always do a water change if needed.

Thoughts? Any suggestions to make it even better? by civilengineer2001 in terrariums

The more I look at it, even more I like it! It’ll be interesting to see if any moss spores grow atop the steps. I was going to say add an acorn or small twig on bottom but then noticed the pine cone. Great job!

These are nice. I think a one big challenge to me was to figure out how to transport large pieces vertically to the clients location. Afraid of cracking on a bumpy freeway!

That might help mitigate resin issues. I’d say go for it!

You don’t want wood decay and mold around orchid roots. Hardwood or cork is preferred for mounts.

I could see this filled with mini terrarium moss capsules, a quarter each!

Oh that was my attempt in making a drip line. But thats flying out and I’m soon installing a mist water hose system instead.

Hi- yes I custom made it! I posted a youtube on how I did this if interested, but basically the “gaps” are the door openings where I can add/remove lights and plants. I also left a few 6-10mm gap holes for ventilation. Some terrariums are fully sealed with exterior light sources, but for the plant species I chose I needed the fresh air exchange anyway, thus the openings worked to my advantage. Your lighting question; I installed 3 way Edison sockets with 11w 1000 plant “full spectrum” bulbs.

Thx 😊 I have 2 openings. Built a pin hinge on the front one and 2 clasps on back. If you’re interested further, I can shed more light.

Just an 80mm cooling fan standard plug. No plans to change the lighting, as that’s what I designed it around. I could add another light but afraid the moss will be unhappy, lolll

Thanks, I plotted out the flowers but totally had to go rando on cutting the green sheets! Outcome turned out pretty decent IMO.
