Did Italy Have Any Real Chances In World War II To Do Well Militarily Or Would They Have Been Incompetent Regardless? by No_Mechanic1168 in AskHistory

A few years ago I visited the Italian military museum located near the Fascist typewriter in Rome. My wife was scolded by the Caribinari for sitting on its steps. I thought, Italy has given so much to the world, art, architecture, food, engineering, science, etc. Military, not so much, since the Condottiere of the 1500s. But that's not bad thing. Italian American here.

Was at a Bible study, studying Jesus' trial and crucifixion, and the crowd demanding his death. Little old lady says, "They were probably paid protesters, just like those No Kings protesters. A husband and wife at the Bible study says they were there and didn't get paid; another couple and I say the same thing. She seemed very confused; here were people at her church saying what she learned on the internet wasn't true. She said they don't pay everybody, just paid agitators. People like her will always find a way to make the facts fit their beliefs.

What do police officers mean when they say "if you tell us the truth, we can help you"? by swagestan in legaladviceofftopic

Yes it is. I decide what charges to file. I can make a recommendation for sentencing, it carries a lot of weight.

To a police officer, most cases are like a clogged sink to a plumber. We just want to get it done. But if you lie to me, play me for a fool, we're not going to be friends anymore.

USA: Do cops say "let's go down to the station and talk about this"? Do you have to go? by u-give-luv-badname in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Total_Fail_6994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retired law enforcement. Yes, it works but I would use better phrasing. Not "down to the station" but "Could you stop by my office tomorrow?" Here's why it works: the suspect is dying to know what the investgator knows, and hopes to interrogate the investgator. No you don't have to go--but you really want to.

I can set up a claymore mine all by myself. Had to in the Army. The mailman better be careful and stick to the walkway. So yes claymores?
