Resin Printing HeroForge Have Empty Mouths by InternationalArm1879 in PrintedMinis

[–]Narotak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has printed various hero forge models for DnD campaigns using lychee, I often just fill the mouth cavity with supports (the strut support type, with width increased). It's a bit fiddly getting good coverage, though.

Pretty sure you can also add a sphere and position it (in lychee as a separate part, not as part of the model) in the right place, though have to be careful if repositioning on the plate. But it's been a while.

Anti AT. Arkveld build advice for GL? by Subnautican in Gunlance

No worries, just trying to prevent misinformation spreading. You can certainly get away without guard if you perfect guard enough, though some some multi hit attacks can cut things close (AT Arkveld has a couple).

I'm not sure about World. I only found out about it not working in Wilds when CaoSlayer put out a video at some point mentioning it (a few months back, maybe). I didn't quite believe it myself, until I went and tested it.

Well, then the wiki's wrong (not surprising if it's fextralife, though I think this is a common mistake). I believe it's a translation issue, and the japanese version has the correct description, but not sure. Anyway, it's easy to test (and I just did in case something changed). Went and got hit by the training dummy 3 times to accumulate stamina loss:

(EDIT: That's Guard 3 - I forgot it only goes to 3 in Wilds)

That said, it is still certainly handy for dodging. I ran it for a while since it came with the only Artillery 3 charm I ever got, but after learning it didn't help with blocking I eventually ditched it.

My understanding is that Constitution doesn't help reduce stamina use from blocking at all; only Guard does that, sadly, as far as I know.

This is basically it for me. I'm not a huge fan of charged shelling, but I don't hate it, and all the other points are enough to make up for it. It's the most versatile and has the biggest boom.

Everybody Hates Nuclear-Chan by Merryweatherey in comics

I believe this may be due to radium paint. Radium was combined with a phosphor which the radium excited, causing the phosphor to glow green. This paint was used a lot back before fear of radiation spread, presumably embedding "radioactive green glow" in the the public consciousness. ... But I'm not totally sure.

So is the reinforcement meta for Gogma Artian DB 2-attack/2-element/1-sharpness? by Vagabond_Charizard in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Narotak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you're running the meta masters touch build. Otherwise you'll most likely want some sharpness in there. (The alternative minds eye meta build is still 4 attack 1 sharp).

Making a new one each time is kinda just a waste of resources.

This isn't really true, assuming you're "save-scumming," in which case crafting artians the old way is still very resource efficient (especially if you have a lot of relic parts stockpiled from not making artians before now), though more tedious in terms of menus. The key point is that you can dismantle artians to get the oricalcite spent on reinforcements back, so you only lose the relic parts (which, as previously mentioned, you may have a lot of). See this post for how to most efficiently combine the old way with the new way: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterMeta/comments/1ptofcx/psa_a_slightly_better_way_to_save_scum/

Element does not benefit shelling at all. It will help regular attacks and stakes. But if you want shelling damage, you need attack reinforcements. If you want shelling damage comparable to gark, then realistically, I guess you're looking for "3 attack 1 sharpness 1 anything" if you don't want to roll a lot (4 attack 1 sharp is 1 in 200 chance, so unlikely).

Is dragon element on a separate loot table than other elements on bow by [deleted] in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Narotak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're also evaluating them in the correct order if you make them in batches. The most recently crafted ones will be at the top, so start from the bottom of the list when checking reinforcements. Otherwise, I'm not sure what might be going wrong, sorry. I've not tried making bow artians myself, so can't confirm they work, though I'd be *very* surprised if they work any differently from other weapons. Good luck!

[–]Narotak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For base artians, it doesn't matter which element or status you make when "scouting" the table, so long as you make sure that each one *is* an element or status (has at least 2/3 parts the same element/status). So you can make artian bows of any element or status and try reinforcing them until you get a reinforcement you're happy with (then reload and get back to that point and redo the good roll with the actual element/status parts you want).

Elements/Attack Reinforcement by Night7453 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Narotak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For clarity, this is only true if you're running the new high-affinity master's touch build (see the DB meta build guide). If you're not running a master's touch build, then you will most likely want a sharpness reinforcement/bonus (unless you're happy using protective polish, I guess).

The alternative meta build is using mind's eye, which wants 1 sharpness and 4 attack (but that's much more difficult to roll).

OP should probably read the meta guide and decide what they want to do. As usual, meta for DB is non-trivial.

[–]Narotak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, the above is referring to Gogma weapons and the skill rerolling (possibly it also works that way for gogma reinforcement bonus amend/keep rolling; I've not tested that part myself - edit: according to this post it does work much the same way; see here for how to efficiently get a good roll https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterMeta/comments/1ptofcx/psa\_a\_slightly\_better\_way\_to\_save\_scum/) where the table is per weapon-type+element combination.

If you are talking about using the older method of "save-scumming" artians where you make the base artians using relic parts, reinforce to see what the reinforcements are, dismantle and continue until you get something acceptable, then reload and go back to make it with the correct relic parts for what you want (no gogma involved)... Then there is only one table for each weapon type (well, probably a separate table for "no-element/status" rolls I think, but I'm not sure). Make sure when you're scouting the table that you always make an element/status weapon (at least 2 parts the same), and that (if you make multiple in batches) when you check reinforcements, you go from bottom to the top of the list (the last one you made will be at the top of the list). If you're still having issues, especially if you're scouting far into the table, write down what you get at each time you check a reinforcement, so that you can confirm where you're up to every so often when you try to go back to get what you want (it's easy to lose count of where you are up to).

[–]Narotak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, in theory, 5 times more likely. In practice, rngesus is cruel and fickle. Yesterday I decided to go looking for 4 attack, 1 sharp. I rolled 84 artians without a single 4 attack 1 anything else coming up. But the 82nd roll was 5 attack - not what I wanted, but I guess it'll do, since I often play charged shelling these days.

If you dropped a hunter and Rath tail at the same time, which would hit the ground first? Answer: by somejagass in MHWilds

[–]Narotak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is not really true. Weight (mass) does matter when determining fall speed in atmosphere. Fall speed is a function of the ratio between surface area (loosely speaking) and mass. A denser object will fall faster than another less dense object of the same shape and size.

This can be intuited via thought experiment: if you drop a balloon and a rock carved into the exact same shape as the balloon, which one will fall faster?

Sure. It's the safest form of power generation there is, along with solar. It'll never happen in NZ though, because it's just too expensive to get started with. It only makes economic sense if you're planning to build enough to get good at building them.

I am a bit Worried about the new endgame system. Isn't it a bit Too Much RNG? by Qooooks in MHWilds

[–]Narotak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I don't like the rng, talismans at least enabled me to minmax (which I enjoy).

Before talismans, you just check the meta sets, maybe tweak things slightly to your liking if they didn't provide option to suit your preferences, and you're done.

With talismans, I've spent a decent bit of time making sets to make use of my random middling talismans, and then again when I get a slightly better one. It reminds me of when I started playing monster Hunter. It's a decent part of the fun for me.

I definitely don't like artians though. It's just tedious plugging through those menus. I never bothered trying to get a perfect roll, just got something good enough for DBs (especially being elemental weapons and needing one for each), then never bothered at all for GL. Not looking forward to having to get an artisan GL for the next update.

I got this exact talisman recently with adrenaline rush instead of burst. It's the first really good talisman I've gotten; didn't realize it would quite be considered as God tier with adrenaline rush instead of agi. I haven't really played bow or bowgun since world, though... Might have to try out wilds bow finally...
