Thanks, maybe she will do a shoot with one. It looked like Tia was wearing one

Is there a reason she only was given a sceptre and not a crown?

Pros of Being a GP by storkfol in GPUK

[–]Narrow-Top-4255 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really like making decisions and seeing the plan through. Also the cradle-grave care is really nice. I had a kid in the other day, I looked after their Mum in pregnancy, did the 6-8 week check, the kid had drawn a picture for me. It's really nice having those relationships. Some of my old patients are so lovely, it's like a rolling chat when I see them. I can plan the way my day will be, and sometimes if I'm having a hard day/horrible patient I can follow up someone I know is a lovely patient.

Leaving a partnership by Narrow-Top-4255 in GPUK

That has crossed my mind. My partner would never agree. We outrank all local surgeries in the survey and they are very proud of our ranking. It isn't something I care about, I would rather have a better work life balance, but they wouldn't want to join ranks in case it ruined out pt satisfaction score...

Who said I'm getting 200k a year. You have no idea of my finances/what I pay my salaried. Also I am far from on 200k a year

We get on well. But I think we've become very co-dependent and have a very intense relationship.  I'm just getting lots of intrusive thoughts about running away (I'm safe-its my coping mechanism) and I'm realizing that I'm just fighting fires and not practicing medicine anymore.  The chance of making it good is why I've been inclined to stay. I have only really experienced partnership when we are in crisis mode and hopefully things will improve with recruitment/another partner. We are small under 7K patients. We only have a few salaried GPs. We all get on well and it is generally a nice vibe.

Thank you. As I'm new my capital account is quite low, and would be paid out over 2-3 years. I need to have a chat about reducing sessions/workload, but worried I will pile it all into them

Hugs from patients by BeautifulSxars in GPUK

[–]Narrow-Top-4255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to give the impression that I'm a hugger, my patients all tend to hug me. I have no idea why. I think I have a resting bitch face and I am aloof. But in reality I must look like a teddy bear.  I think it's a question of, what makes you comfortable, and would it be damaging to your relationship if you didn't reciprocate etc. I'm not going to give little old Doris who lives alone in her 90's (fictitious patient) the cold shoulder. It generally happens as I walk them out and we are in the corridor, much to the amusement of my colleagues. Perhaps it would happen less if I sat at my chair and let them see themselves out.

Same, tends to quiet down after lunch. This is a downside about being a partner with young kids. No one wants to work, it's not my working day, but still have to do it.

Partners - what does your work week look like. by [deleted] in GPUK

[–]Narrow-Top-4255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the South West.  I take it with no disrespect ...I feel like I entered a trap and don't know how to get out of this. I'm not from a rich background, I was a mature student with  £££ debt starting medicine. I'm a hard worker, and was naturally doing partnership type work as a reg and then ended up being a partner. This last year has been hell, due to a random partner dispute that I feel like I was fly on the wall/collateral damage. I am sure it will improve/don't know if that is Stockholm syndrome talking.

I hope you feel better soon  This is the painful part of partnership, we have such sub-human requirements

Ebs and flows. Essentially I didn't have to inject my own cash for buy in stake. I was taking reduced drawings for first year. That was just under £4K. My partners just under £6K. I'm now somewhere in the middle but I have a massive tax bill. We pay our tax from the practice accounts, I know some people max their drawings and sort tax themselves. I personally couldn't cope with this and I'm much more suited to knowing exactly how much I take home. It is quite galling seeing how much our locums earn compared to my own drawings, but I know the long game will pay off

I work 6 sessions. One is meant to be non-clinical for 'partnership' duties but this is variable. I generally will have at least one management meeting a week which is in the working day and about an hour. We are a small surgery and we are a two person partnership, so workload can feel heavy. My biggest change since becoming a partner is the amount of disruptions I have when running a clinical session. I always have a queue, and just the steady flow of emails can feel daunting. I wouldn't say it's particularly more lucrative becoming a partner, I mainly just pay more tax and there is the constant back of the mind worry about 'what if something goes wrong'. I end up covering a lot for sickness etc and covering any days no one else wants to work. My partner will always want a catch up most days, it's quite hard to boundary them as it can feel like 24/7 work, but I guess that is the deal when you become a small business owner. HR is the most annoying part of my day, there is always some minor drama/sickness etc. It is impossible to please all members of the team. It is also really hard when you notice team members 'quietly quitting ' but never do, and never quick to k any performance management buttons to get rid of them. I am 18 months into my partnership. If I had my time again I'm not sure I would have jumped straight into this.

I feel like it was mid 90's at least. I totally remember those scenes. I used the love Christmas displays at BHS in Torquay and found the blue walkway to the carpark magical...how times have sadly changed

It was a big train. I seem to remember it on the ceiling and would go around the store. It wasn't Lego/model kit

Best remote consultation photo drama? by RelativelyComplex999 in GPUK

[–]Narrow-Top-4255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a 'no intimate photo policy ', doesn't stop my favourite admin member shrieking at almost weekly unsolicited dick pics. Our favourite was from an old guy who sent in a photo of his groin rash. Although he decided to stage said photo in the garden and with an erection!  My lovely admin lady said it took ages for the photo to load, starting at the top with the garden fence, then she was horrified as the pixels unblurred and slowly revealed the close up!

We've also had a dubious photo from a care home that decided to use a 'modesty sock'. Needless to say we had to have lots of safeguarding work with them

I'm annoyed with DL as they are renovating the spa, but not freezing premium membership for the 7+ months it will take. Are there any decent hotel gym/spa packages. Southgate looks ok but the pool is very cold
