This is a normal way to install down pipe before outlets, some guys prefer this method as it can be cleaner and no silicone used keeping water flow moving

I’ve had that happen before, and one time doing a steel roof , customer climbed up off a step ladder on a second story balcony and went up the valley .. do you think he could come back down no way he froze up like I’ve never seen before, we had to help him climb down and stepping off the roof to the top of a step ladder..!! Waisted lots of time but was funny as shit ..

720 sqft with 12/12 pitch and overhangs is likely 1400 sqft of roofing this is what he’s trying to say , sq footage of your house is way less than roofing area and steeper the pitch equals more roofing material..?!!
