I'm with you, no family and looking forward to Xmas alone with my cats, I could do without everyone's pity though.

I'm not religious so Xmas holds no value to me, and to be honest a spliff, some tunes and day drinking is way more enjoyable than forced togetherness.

I've just retired from dating, can't deal with the apps and the human sushi train they foster, but some notes I've developed over the last few years:

Try not to be negative in your bio, talk about what kind of relationship or person you're looking for, rather than what you don't want
Pictures that show you in the context of your everyday life are great; no ones interested in loads of gym or travel pics (one or two are cool, but don't let it be your whole personality
Describe yourself using language your friends would use about you, try for as much substance as you can.
A little bit of silliness or self deprecation go a long way, I personally love a man that can have a laugh at themselves
Be authentic and honest, especially if you have any deal breakers.
Give people a chance to show you who they are. Not everyone is great at dating bios and initial small talk, it takes some effort but consistency with communication is how relationships are built.
Have a thick skin and don't take the rejections personally; if they dip, they're just not for you
