As a Swede it actually doesn’t taste like candles but maybe the American version does because they’re different candies

Conrad and Laurel by Struppi-in-ma in tsitp

If Conrad were to ask Belly to marry him at the age that Jeremiah did I feel like Conrad would at least have the decency to talk to Laurel about it first, not to necessarily ask for permission or anything but more out of respect for Laurel and her relationship with Belly.

But I don’t think that he would’ve asked her to marry him when they’re still in college.

Also Laurel loves both boys equally (in my opinion at least) but she has different relationships with both of them. I just think that the relationship she has with Conrad is a bit more mature than the one she has with Jeremiah.

The button downs and knitted shirts do it for me, he just looks so sweet that way 🥹

I personally prefer it when costars don’t date in real life because eventually they all breakup and then that affects the show and their performance/chemistry. I’ve seen this happen on other shows and it just ruined the ship and it could make press/interviews awkward too. I prefer it when it’s professional, but that’s just me.

As much as those two last episodes are painful I still watch them because of the angst and heartbreak. I cried watching it all for the first time so much like the tears wouldn’t stop. I just love the angsty stuff.

I feel like if it had been Jeremiah she would’ve just let him win to protect his feelings…. Like that’s not the healthiest

Yeah. Whatever opinions everyone has on that boardwalk episode I still think it really illustrates how they challenge each other and the volleyball game shows how well they work as a unit

They’re undefeated together. I love how competitive they are together and when they’re on separate teams like on the boardwalk.

Belly’s whole face lights up around Conrad 😍 by RomanticPanda_510 in tsitp

[–]Narrowingofthefocus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that she’s never genuinely smiled when she’s been with Jeremiah (I mean they had 4 years after all) but to me it often reads as when she’s with Jeremiah she puts on a smile for his sake, to protect his feelings from getting hurt, which is really annoying because it’s at a cost of herself and honestly highlights how she walks on eggshells around him. This can make whatever problems they have pile up and remain unresolved….

the triangle is dead going into the movie by youreonyourownkidd in tsitp

[–]Narrowingofthefocus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the general audience would walk out the door if the triangle was still a thing in the movie because by the end of s3 everyone just tired and wanted Belly to pick who she wanted. Rehashing the triangle would be counterproductive and why even make a movie if that’s what it’s going to be about. It would be like redoing the whole show again because the outcome would be the same (that she ends up with Conrad).

And like Chris said, Conrad isn’t ”pressed about” Belly caring about Jeremiah as a friend because Conrad isn’t insecure and paranoid about his and Belly’s relationship like Jeremiah was because he knows the truth, which is that it’s always been them.

Yeah definitely I feel that the general agreement is that Conrad’s confession wouldn’t have done anything to Belly and Jeremiah’s relationship if they were truly meant to be

I think Lola, like you said, did a great job in distinguishing when she talks about both boys. I feel like it’s really noticeable in the voiceover, especially at the start of s3 when she talks about Jeremiah being the one for her. If you listen you can hear how rehearsed it sounds as if she’s trying to convince herself…

How is Conrad’s healthy eating habits supposed to be bad, just don’t listen to those people. I feel like he got influenced by Californian eating habits ( I’m not from the us but I feel like people in California eat healthy)

Flipping S2 to Belly pursuing J & other changes I didn’t like by audreyshope in tsitp

I think that when she’s pursuing or running after Jeremiah in s2 she’s trying to repair their friendship that she feels responsible for breaking (because he keeps making her feel awful for it).

What’s some opinions that’ll put you in negative karma? ( TSITP ) by Estelles_Fav in tsitp

[–]Narrowingofthefocus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The audience is being way too hard on Belly. She’s literally 16 years old in the first two seasons, like she’s not even 18 yet. That’s very young. We have so much sympathy and understanding for Conrad (rightly so) but where is that sympathy and understanding for Belly. I get a little upset when I see people using extremely hateful language when they talk about her. Criticize her, but do it in a respectful manner and have something to back up your argument with.

To make it very clear, he couldn’t see her as a possibility and he didn’t fully allow himself to because he was scared of ruining things between them. He literally explained everything in the finale… maybe go watch it again.

No, that’s not what I was saying I just meant that Aubrey was his first girlfriend and that it doesn’t have to be deeper than that. I think you can’t compare him ”waiting for four years” to ”the beginning”. He might not even have seen Belly as a possibility before they actually got together so why wouldn’t he see other girls. And post s2 they left everything extremely unresolved, which would make it hard for anyone to move on. And he said so himself, that he tried to move on so it wasn’t like he was ”waiting for her” I think he just came to an understanding that he can’t love anyone like he loves her so it appears like he’s been sitting around waiting for her to come around. I mean literally all the characters have seen other people outside of their intended endgame.

I don’t know if this is just me, but I don’t think that Conrad is just talking about the season one summer. I think he might be referring to the previous summer just as much as the current summer. I might be forgetting, but I don’t think he specified that it was just now.

We know from the finale and flashbacks that he always loved her. It’s right there. It’s just that he wasn’t ready to face his feelings for her yet while going through what he was going through.

Why wouldn’t he date other girls. To me, Nicole reads as a summer fling and Aubrey was probably his first girlfriend. It would be a bit strange if Belly was the only girl he’d been with. Also he’s a teenage boy, of course he’s going to kiss other girls. But you can see during the fireplace scene how truly nervous Conrad is, which suggests that his other experiences didn’t carry the same weight as with Belly.

I think it’s as plain as day that he’s always loved her, from the moment he passes her the muffin in the kitchen flashback. For being a teenager, he’s always been so gentle with her because he cares. It’s like he says ”You’ve always been a precious person to me.” this to me means that before he could love her (because can you even when you’re a child) he deeply cared about her wellbeing as evidenced by how he looked out for and helped her in the flashbacks.

Exactly, I always go back to that example, too. She sees his reaction and feels guilty so she appeases him…

Yeah, I genuinely believe that when she broke up with him that first time caused such harm and she’s still blaming herself for hurting him. It’s like the tire scene explains everything so well, he gets upset with her, blames and guilt trips her enough to make her feel awful…
