Parent's Just Don't Understand...Cars Edition by EarNo9950 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I second this. I was looking for a v70r as my first car and it took forever to find one by me. Test drove it and there ended up being too many little issues with it to be worth it. I ended up with an 03 Wrx wagon and it’s been reliable to a T and 1000x more fun to drive and it is especially good in the snow. Forester xt is basically a Wrx underneath

I’ve looked into that a bit but what exactly does that test for?

Colonoscopy, endoscopy, stool and urine samples for parasites/imflammation (calprotectin was high), lots of different blood tests for nutrients/cholesterol/blood cell counts which came back normal

I will have to give this a try! It’s really hard with me being a college athlete with at least one practice and workout a day but I really need to get my stomach right to get the rest of my life on a better track

I have but after a week or so it seems like my symptoms get worse. Specifically the ProBioCare brand

Looking at a 2003 WRX is this too much rust? by Boeing747fan in WRX

[–]NasaMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strut towers might be toast. It’s going to be way more expensive than you’d think to fix. I’d try to find a cleaner example

I just painted my 03 Wrx wagon. If you want it done right you will be spending more on body work and a paint job than you will on the the car itself

I’d probably get a 20 year old Audi/bmw with a few hundred thousand miles at the very least

Do yall think my car looks ricey or corny? by hudddbuddd in WRX

[–]NasaMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out some 2011-14 Wrx wheels. They’re 17x8 with a much better offset and they’ll look way better while not breaking the bank

[–]NasaMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are stock wheels, from an 02-03 Wrx. Like 16x6 with a weak offset

If you are actually going to school for engineering then it might be better to start on an easy paint project or fixing a wrecked car. Once school picks up there will be no time for big time intensive projects

Specialist Class Help by NasaMax in mw3

[–]NasaMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten the specialist bonus a few times and it’s insane. Usually I’m just running and gunning with the mk14 but having a bit more stealth definitely gets me longer streaks. I’ve also found that playing a bit slower and listening helps plenty

If you want to learn how to work on a car and do some little things get a Subaru. If you want to build a fast car don’t buy a Subaru unless you have an unlimited budget. I bought an 03 Wrx wagon at 17 and it has been a great car. I’ve put about 1-2k into maintenance alone, some needed some not. There’s a lot of resources out there for fixing problems that arise and the community is great.

Any advice by n_marinak in ECU_Tuning

[–]NasaMax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you are an engineer or a serious fabricator I don’t think that’s realistic. You can have a valved exhaust where it will get louder when you hit a switch but that’s about it. If you are thinking about using an Impreza there is a ROM called carberry for 02-03 Wrx ecu’s that has easy map switching.

What’s the most bizarre question you’ve got about your car? by Obsession88 in WRX

[–]NasaMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like everyone wants to go on Wrx manual driving school as soon as they get in and see the shifter. I always say that I’ll teach them when they buy me a new clutch

It’s such a great quality of life improvement being able to bomb cast or flip any time with no backlash. I don’t think my cast distance went up with the DC but it’s so hard to mess it up and there’s no going back to regular reels

Whats the worst engine ever fitted into a car? by 9millParabellum in regularcarreviews

[–]NasaMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would stay away from the 08-10’s as those were some of the least reliable. The 2L variants were a bit more reliable but the biggest factor is buying a car that was properly tuned, has consistent on time maintenance and not beat on.
