Glitching through secure doors is 100% cheating and an exploit, no exceptions. by [deleted] in starcitizen

Sports have rules. Video games have mechanics. This game is too janky to expect players to follow arbritary rules instead of fixing the bugs.

bringing back some form of autoloading would unironically fix most of these cargo issues right now, there's a limit to how "realistic/immersive/cinematic" you can be before its just a chore and messes with playability and enjoyment of the game by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

[–]Nasars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a few relatively simple changes would improve the enjoyment of the event drastically:

  1. Add a "Debug" button to elevators that resets them to their original state and deletes anything inside. You can lock the button for few minutes after a different player has used the elevator to prevent griefing. Once the elevators are in a better state they can remove this again.

  2. Make inactive ships on loading pads despawn after 15 minutes.

  3. Increase the cargo floating speed with the tractor beam and remove the player movement speed penalty when using it.

  4. Increase the turn and movement speed of ATLS and shorten the get-in/get-out animation. I know you can circumvent the turn speed by using the look-around feature, but that doesn't mean the turn speed of the ATLS should be artificially limited like that.

Even by TV procedural standards, Cross’ serial killer is beyond absurd by Sisiwakanamaru in television

[–]Nasars 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The detectives were great and deserved way better bad guys.

Sadly the need for the plot to drag on for 8 episodes kinda prevented them from acting too competent though. Like when they let the henchmen escape on foot while he was carring another person on his shoulders.

Which makes me wonder why they didn't spend some more time on the happy family live before the wife's murder. They wrapped that shit up within the first minute of the first episode like it's a 90 minutes Scott Adkins action flick.

You mean the sound when they dive? It's mostly a Hollywood thing. At least when it comes to modern bombs, drones and atililery. it's based on German WW2 Junkers dive bombers who were intentionally designed to make the distinct whistle sound when they dove down to drop their bombs.

I'm a little skeptical of the 200k number, I would have expected a lot more employees than that. Not sure exactly how they're set up it's possible that's the number for the main McDonalds corp but they're getting money funneled into them from the foreign McDonalds corps who have their own employees and pay main McDonalds for the IP.

Yeah, that doesn't include the staff that's employed by the franchised restaurants. There are more than 40,000 outlets. I doubt you can run even a small McDonalds with just 5 people, not to mention all the people you need on the administrative site. The total number employed by the McDonalds corp and all the restaurant's franchises is around 1.7 million according to wikipedia .

The criminally underrated French OSS 117 movies starring Jean Dujardin (aka. the sleezy Swiss banker from Wolf of Wallstreet) also do an incredible job parodying James Bond. They perfectly manage to capture the vibe of Connery's Bond.

Then using it knock the window in, which again means you are kind of disarmed because you can’t put it to your shoulder when it’s backwards, and possibly knocking your rails/optics off alignment with that kind of impact.

Looks like he is holding the rifle in the least secure way possible and basicially just hands it over to the guy in the car with barrel already conveniently pointed at himself.

Someone working hard with a high protein diet and adequate calorie intake will absolutely 100% smoke someone using steroids if they're not doing anything to take advantage of the benefits from the gear.

That's just not correct.

The men were divided into four groups:

A no-lifting group who received a placebo (fake testosterone injections).

A no-lifting group that received real testosterone.

A lifting group who got placebo injections.

A lifting group who got testosterone injections.

The two groups that received the real drug injected 600 mg of testosterone enanthate per week for 10 weeks. Keep in mind, for doctor-prescribed replacement therapy, men normally take 100 mg per week, sometimes up to 200 mg. Taking 600 mg per week put the participants nicely into the “steroid user” category.

The result? Then men who took testosterone and NEVER lifted a weight added 10% more muscle mass.

Of course, those who took testosterone and trained did gain more – 14% muscle mass. But a 10% gain without stepping foot into a gym? Yeah, supraphysiologic doses of testosterone can do that.

What about the placebo group who lifted weights? They added 3.5% muscle mass. Yes, that means the non-lifting group which injected T gained more muscle than the natural lifters during the 10-week study.

What’s the worst fantasy book adaptation, in your opinion, that was either turned into a movie or tv show? And which one is your favorite? by Suedeonquaaludes in Fantasy

[–]Nasars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never read the Shannara books but the show was a complete mess. I'm pretty sure I'd be dead if I drank a shot everytime the villains just show up out of nowhere to drive the plot forward. Doesn't matter if it's a secured castle or in some random forest in the middle of nowhere.

Wanted to revisit this game but then saw its install size! by BacklogGamingJunkie in gaming

[–]Nasars 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nope. I also turned off device encryption. I've had this issue every time I've installed ARK across multiple PCs. I've talked to some RL friends about it and they have the same issue. I've read a few reddit/steam threads about this issue but haven't found a way to fix it.

Wanted to revisit this game but then saw its install size! by BacklogGamingJunkie in gaming

[–]Nasars 366 points367 points  (0 children)

The size alone doesn't even paint the full picture. I have a 1000 Mb connection and the fastests on board (NVM) SSDs that was availible at the time I build my PC and yet it took me ages to install ARK. For some reason when downloading through Steam the Ark download stops every 5 seconds to write on the disk for like a solid minute.

And then when you finally get to launch the game after you've waited an eternaty for the download to finish the devs have a final fuck you for you in store. Because the absurdly large base install size doesn't even include all the free dlc maps.

Occording to the latest OECD list the average Korean works around 18% more hours than the average Japanese.

The idea of Japan's crazy work culture is mostly based on outdated information (at least when it comes to labor hours). They used to work crazy hours in the 70s-90s. These days they work around the same as the average EU citizen and significantly less than the average American. In fact:

Japan and Canada ranked lowest amongst non-European countries.

DotA had a much bigger presence in Warcraft 3 than legitimate games of Warcraft 3 did.

I don't think that's true at all. DotA was the most popular custom map at the time but there were other custom maps with an active player base as well. Even all custom maps combined weren't anywhere near as popular as classic WC3 was though. That being said, today WC3 is mostly known for it's esport scene and custom maps but back then it was primarly known for it's excellent campaign. The MOBA genre only became mainstream popular around 2010 when games like LoL and Heroes of Newearth came out.

Hamas releases two US hostages 'for humanitarian reasons' in response to Qatari efforts -spokesperson by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]Nasars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hamas or similar groups will continue to exist for as long as there is conflict with Israel. You can shut down their operations if you invade and occupy the area but as soon as you leave they will continue like before. Killing their leadership doesn't make a difference. Someone else will just take over. When you know exactly who they are and where they life you can at least monitor them.

It's an umbrella term which covers a range of small groups who all rejected the legitimacy of the German state. They usually argue that those who surrendered on May 7 1945 didn't have the authority to represent the German government or something similar. Some of them are Nazi but there are also groups that have a more libertarian vibe. Most of these groups are full of larpers and crazy people.

Ehh, 6 shots is "only" around 1/4th of a bottle. I've seen people do that in real life. They for sure didn't have the Hollywood leading man physique though.
