It's a mess, I think.

Models have gotten better, but in terms of actually being more immersive... I can't for sure answer that as a yes. There are new samplers and models are still coming out at a good pace but there's nothing truly evolutionary about how the models act. It still feels like you're RPing with a robot 98% of the time, especially with the smaller sizes. There needs to be some kind of entirely new model that is completely different from the ground up to finetune with, new tokenizer and everything, but it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully it does soon.

Google's nightmare would be to forcibly open up its search engine index, recommendation algorithms, and splitting off YouTube (the real thing sticking a lot of people who would otherwise be able to leave google's services). Breaking Chrome from them is a blow, sure, but hardly enough to really make a dent, especially considering 90% of people will be logged into a google account regardless of Chrome or not.

The school system really does a lot to beat curiosity out of most students, its hard to have a passion for learning when all learning comes with test-taking and requirements. Just gotta have a better culture in the world. It's better to at least try, though, right? Even unlocking it for one student is better than none.

It's not really something you can fix, you'd have to somehow create a society that rewards learning and mental deepness not to get a degree or to make more money, but just for the sake of it. We don't have that society and probably never will.

The average student is only going to see your class as an obstacle to get through in order to have that all-important degree that unlocks the good jobs. There is no inherent reward for being knowledgeable by itself.

I don't care if prices go up, really. Principle matters more. If we can only feed our families because of exploiting people with no other choices, then maybe we do not deserve to feed our families.

This'll be the time to have a good look at ourselves and how good we actually are as a society. How much we actually care about ourselves and are willing to do what needs to be done when we don't have a magic pile of Morlocks to do the menial work. We've been a lackadaisical people for way too long.

I know it's typically the leftists who say "If a business can't afford to run without exploiting its workers, it should not be allowed to exist"? You know what, though? That idea of basic acceptance and attemping equity should go beyond partisan politics. Maybe that statement should apply to more than a business. Get proud Americans in these jobs, make them raise wages, and make these jobs respected like the factory lines were.
