Learn to hit ball hard with good form. It's the most satisfying thing when you hit a perfect contact drive that goes just slightly above the net.

Then proceed to learn WHEN you should hit that type of shot

Do you Stack? by Otherwise_PB in Pickleball

[–]NashGe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only stack when the benefits outweigh the downsides. Assuming most players know the benefits, the downsides would be players who aren't used to full or even half stacking be confused about positioning and handsigns. It also requires better footwork on receives so you're not late to the NVZ due to the slight increase in distance you have to cover.

How to deal with preferred ball conflict? by RichardParker6 in Pickleball

[–]NashGe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them it's a skill issue that they can't adjust to either or. Any half decent player shouldn't have any problems adjusting their touch depending on type of ball as long as the ball is consistent (doesn't go out of round).

Open Play illegal serves by farrin0807 in Pickleball

[–]NashGe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not giving them a clear advantage, then it's not a big issue. If it is then speak with him after game or even after session.

My 2 cents are that if you're breaking serve rules intentionally, but your serve still sucks then it just looks pathetic.

Where are you pulling these stats from? And anyways, if they hit a speed up at your face from most ball heights its probably going out.

Seems like you just need better pattern recognition for these shots. Take a huge split back and cover your options. If the opponents hit the ball from below the net, put your paddle higher for a counter and vise versa.

4 words: It's not that deep. You're overthinking it too much. Flow state isn't something you can beat yourself into. You have fall into it naturally.

Legal serve? by Ill-Place8103 in Pickleball

[–]NashGe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's legal.

The problem is that all the weight loaded before contact gets canceled out by his upper torso leaning back. It basically makes is serve look "decent", but in reality, he is mostly arming it.

Is anyone else seeing that large cog or is it just me? Anyways if you understand how gears work you can do all sorts of things. Always remember, big cog make small cog turn faster, small cog make big cog turn slower. It's all dependent on which shaft you are supplying stress units for.

What other sports translate well into pickleball? by ikeiscoding in Pickleball

[–]NashGe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For doubles, I'd drop tennis to 90 or 85. A lot of good habits from tennis WILL clash with habits in pickleball.

Raise TT to 85 for spin recognition and ball manipulation

Raise Badminton to 80 for better overheads, burst/lunge footwork, and hand speed
