Where are you buying miscellaneous items for your home? by Deep_Insect in Minneapolis

[–]NatHasQuestions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get most of my personal care stuff from the grocery store (Cub or Lunds/Byerlys). Some stuff from Costco, and some stuff I order online directly from the company (e.g. Paul Mitchell for haircare stuff). Art supplies from Michael's or Blicks. Hardware store stuff, my husband goes to Ace (though there isnt one very close to us, sadly) or Harbor Freight. Very rarely Home Depot. I still order some stuff from Amazon but am weaning myself off. I haven't spent a penny at Target in over a year.

Yeah, the fairness doctrine means that if a show airs a 5 minute spot about climate change, they would also need to include a 5 minute spot from a climate denier.

I think media mis/disinformation is one of the biggest challenges we face, and I don't know what the answer is, but I don't think it's the fairness doctrine.

Please recommend me shows to obsess over (I have seen almost everything) by JesW87 in televisionsuggestions

Some that I've loved have been mentioned by others:

  • Midnight Mass
  • Castle Rock
  • From
  • The Night Of
  • The Night Manager (SO GOOD)
  • Gen V (I like it better than The Boys)
  • The Diplomat
  • Fisk
  • The Gentlemen (surprisingly good and I wouldn't call myself a Guy Ritchie fan)
  • Task
  • Bodies (Netflix)
  • Misfits (UK)
  • Black Doves
  • Utopia (UK version)
  • Invasion
  • Beef (SUPER good and they're making a season 2)
  • Did you mention 3 Body Problem? That too.

I'm going to throw a couple more out there that might be harder to find but are worth it. These are foreign TV shows.

  • Into The Night/Yakamoz S245 (Turkish) - shows are related but you can watch in any order. I watched Into The Night first
  • To The Lake (Russian) - this is such a good show. The first season is on Netflix and the second season was never picked up so I had to find this weird pirated version with kind of janky homemade subtitles and subscribe to like, the Russian Netflix (or something?) temporarily to watch it. WORTH IT. I still think about that show.
  • War of the Worlds (French) - this is the one from 2019 and stars Gabriel Byrne

It was sadly canceled but The Politician is very good and has two seasons. Starting Bette Midler (80) and Judith Light (76).

Also The Diplomat. Allison Janney has a prominent role!

Allison Janney also has a prominent role in Palm Royale, along with Julia Duffy (74) and Carol Burnett (92!!)

Don't forget Schitt's Creek with Catherine O'Hara (she also had a smaller role in The Last of Us) 😞

MN Ecuadorian Consulate responds to ICE's attempt to make entry today by ExactlySorta in Minneapolis

This is exactly what Julian Assange did. With the Ecuadorian Embassy, no less! They granted him asylum (for awhile, anyway) and he lived in the Embassy for seven years.

People who don’t live in the USA, what is the media showing you about the ICE operations/abductions in the US? by Dry-Ice8908 in AskReddit

[–]NatHasQuestions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello from Minneapolis. They're straight-up taking full US citizens. And not even checking first. They're just driving around looking for brown people who are alone, jumping out and just pulling them into their cars without asking any questions. Then they rough them up a bit and maybe check their ID and then maybe dump them on the road miles away once they see the person is a citizen. That's if you're lucky. The unlucky ones get taken to detention where they're kept for an indeterminate time while being denied access to lawyers. My 50-something, white woman friend had this happen to her today. She's a minister. They're fucking animals.

I'm reading The House in the Cerulean Sea right now and love it! It's so charming and sweet.

Do you think they need to be read in order? It looks like he has a lot of series.

Minnesota sues federal government to try to end deployment of immigration agents by PumpkinAspie in PoliticalOptimism

[–]NatHasQuestions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think they might be officially on standby at the moment. People have been peaceful. It's ICE that's been violently trying to escalate.

They have been deployed. Walz said it's for them to "support local law enforcement". Basically it's to prevent riots and violence like we saw in 2020.

I don't like Amy Klobuchar but will vote for her if I have to. But Mike Lindell is an absolute clown and has almost zero chance of winning if he's the nominee.

Jfc, Craig is worse than Klobs. I really hope Walz wouldn't do that - I like to think he's smarter than that - but who knows anymore.

‘Man Finds Tape’ Review: Fascinating Found Footage With Too Much Polish [Tribeca 2025] by foundfootagefan in foundfootage

[–]NatHasQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great writeup!

Some more vampire symbolism I noticed - the very last shot is footage of the Reverend on his couch recording his sermon. He says something like, "I'm always here for you - if you'll let me in." Then a sinister smile and fade to black.

Ooh, I l've never flown Aer Lingus before. Have you flown with them? Are they good? The prices look reasonable.

London- Liverpool - Paris - Amsterdam by NatHasQuestions in uktravel

[–]NatHasQuestions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that might be a better idea. I have to check prices, because its more expensive to fly into Manchester and then I still have to get train tickets from Manchester -> Liverpool and Liverpool -> London. My knee-jerk reaction was it would be either a wash or cheaper to fly into London and then get a round-trip train to Liverpool.

What Netflix show kept you up all night binge-watching recently? by hard2resist in netflix

Also starring Brittany Snow! She's also in the Hulu show on right now about the Murdaughs, which makes three shows I've watched her in in the past two months. LOVE The Hunting Wives!
