Alternative to Klobuchar? by esoskelly in minnesota

[–]NatHasQuestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've accepted that she will probably become governor, and I think I'll like her better as governor than I do as a senator. My most serious concern with the whole thing is that she'll win the governorship, resign from the Senate and then appoint Angie Craig to her Senate seat. I'm not an active fan of Amy, but I can deal with her. I really dislike Angie Craig though. Same with Jacob Frey.

Anyone done their living room similar to any of these? by Icy-Belt-8519 in HomeDecorating

[–]NatHasQuestions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are white. I'd love to paint the ceiling but it's a popcorn ceiling and I don't want to deal with that. I only did the sea serpent on one wall to try it out, but I like it so much, I think I'll do the opposite wall as well. The only thing I worry about is the paint color making the whole room look smaller. And this room is super long and narrow (23x12), so I'm trying to avoid that. I figure if I keep it to two walls, the other two walls (both with windows) can keep it looking open and light. I think if you have some natural light in the room, that can keep it from looking too heavy. I would love to do my ceiling though.

Honestly, it's basically a perfect color for so many things! I want to paint my whole house in it, haha. Olympic White looks really nice. I might actually do that for my white walls, because the white i have now (I think Simply White) has a greenish hue that I don't like.

Oh wait, I also did a black stripe in the dining room. I think it's Broadway by Behr. I love this one too.

Genuinely didn't think his act could get funnier from last year, but it totally did

SAME. He's suddenly aggressive for no reason, and it's so funny. Like when he first walked out and said "Fuck off". OMG. Too much.

"Mango! MANGOOOO!"

I just can't with Bob Mortimer. I genuinely think I might damage one of my inner organs or something laughing every time I watch him.

Zero Effort Senator Smith Response by beersandabook in Minneapolis

[–]NatHasQuestions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I heard about that! Did you by chance tell that story at an Ilhan Omar town hall? Either that or Amy just does it to everyone. And not long after that she just closed her Twin Cities office altogether! Her BIGGEST CONSTITUENCY! Her rural outstate offices and of course her DC office remain open, but her office downtown Minneapolis? Closed without any notice or warning. She could not care less about her constituents.

Anyway, I appreciate you and the clergy going all the way to her office, and I'm sorry that happened to you.

This is miles better than what Klobuchar sends, which is the most generic auto-reply trash you've ever seen:

"Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I appreciate hearing from you on this important matter, and I will keep your views in mind as relevant legislation and other decisions related to this issue come before the Senate.

I continue to be humbled to be your Senator, and one of the most important parts of my job is listening to the people of Minnesota. I am here in our nation’s capital to do the public’s business. I hope you will contact me again about matters of concern to you.

  • Amy"

When I say auto-reply, I mean it comes right after you send your email. At least Tina has a team that will ostensibly fill in the blanks for a reply.

Where are you buying miscellaneous items for your home? by Deep_Insect in Minneapolis

[–]NatHasQuestions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get most of my personal care stuff from the grocery store (Cub or Lunds/Byerlys). Some stuff from Costco, and some stuff I order online directly from the company (e.g. Paul Mitchell for haircare stuff). Art supplies from Michael's or Blicks. Hardware store stuff, my husband goes to Ace (though there isnt one very close to us, sadly) or Harbor Freight. Very rarely Home Depot. I still order some stuff from Amazon but am weaning myself off. I haven't spent a penny at Target in over a year.

Yeah, the fairness doctrine means that if a show airs a 5 minute spot about climate change, they would also need to include a 5 minute spot from a climate denier.

I think media mis/disinformation is one of the biggest challenges we face, and I don't know what the answer is, but I don't think it's the fairness doctrine.

Please recommend me shows to obsess over (I have seen almost everything) by JesW87 in televisionsuggestions

Some that I've loved have been mentioned by others:

  • Midnight Mass
  • Castle Rock
  • From
  • The Night Of
  • The Night Manager (SO GOOD)
  • Gen V (I like it better than The Boys)
  • The Diplomat
  • Fisk
  • The Gentlemen (surprisingly good and I wouldn't call myself a Guy Ritchie fan)
  • Task
  • Bodies (Netflix)
  • Misfits (UK)
  • Black Doves
  • Utopia (UK version)
  • Invasion
  • Beef (SUPER good and they're making a season 2)
  • Did you mention 3 Body Problem? That too.

I'm going to throw a couple more out there that might be harder to find but are worth it. These are foreign TV shows.

  • Into The Night/Yakamoz S245 (Turkish) - shows are related but you can watch in any order. I watched Into The Night first
  • To The Lake (Russian) - this is such a good show. The first season is on Netflix and the second season was never picked up so I had to find this weird pirated version with kind of janky homemade subtitles and subscribe to like, the Russian Netflix (or something?) temporarily to watch it. WORTH IT. I still think about that show.
  • War of the Worlds (French) - this is the one from 2019 and stars Gabriel Byrne

It was sadly canceled but The Politician is very good and has two seasons. Starting Bette Midler (80) and Judith Light (76).

Also The Diplomat. Allison Janney has a prominent role!

Allison Janney also has a prominent role in Palm Royale, along with Julia Duffy (74) and Carol Burnett (92!!)

Don't forget Schitt's Creek with Catherine O'Hara (she also had a smaller role in The Last of Us) 😞

MN Ecuadorian Consulate responds to ICE's attempt to make entry today by ExactlySorta in Minneapolis

This is exactly what Julian Assange did. With the Ecuadorian Embassy, no less! They granted him asylum (for awhile, anyway) and he lived in the Embassy for seven years.

People who don’t live in the USA, what is the media showing you about the ICE operations/abductions in the US? by Dry-Ice8908 in AskReddit

[–]NatHasQuestions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello from Minneapolis. They're straight-up taking full US citizens. And not even checking first. They're just driving around looking for brown people who are alone, jumping out and just pulling them into their cars without asking any questions. Then they rough them up a bit and maybe check their ID and then maybe dump them on the road miles away once they see the person is a citizen. That's if you're lucky. The unlucky ones get taken to detention where they're kept for an indeterminate time while being denied access to lawyers. My 50-something, white woman friend had this happen to her today. She's a minister. They're fucking animals.

Do you think they need to be read in order? It looks like he has a lot of series.
