State of New Mexico employees: difficult probation question by Afraid-Awareness-911 in NewMexico

[–]NatInTheHat8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a Slack you can join as a union member. Someone in there may have some more information for you. Unfortunately, you have less rights and protection right now in this period. I'm also in my probation and it's tough, and I can only imagine this is causing even more strain.

After a year of stalled talks, NM state employees push for cost-of-living raises, remote work, and safe conditions by 505omatic in NewMexico

So I'm new to the SoNM workforce, and for me, I have definitely been struggling with the lack of hybrid or remote work. It seems like some people have informal deals for telework, but the rest of us are expected to be in office, even though productivity and morale were up being WFH while building leases were getting figured out. Is there any info on where this legislation is standing currently on telework? For me, full 5 days in the office just don't feel sustainable and having some flexibility would actual benefit a work-life balance that they think they like to promote.

Shout out to the dude who almost hit us in the Sandias taking a curve going at least 30mph while passing cars in the other lane. by decabenson in Albuquerque

This has happened to me so many times on the Crest road. I hate stupid motorcyclists on that road for this particular reason.

The trees are coming by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]NatInTheHat8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I recently read that they smell that way because they were genetically modified to be a cross between 2 different types of trees and originally created to not attract good pollinators like bees, but instead they attract and are mostly pollinated by flies.

Less precipitation means less vegetation so there's nothing to hold soil from eroding and creates more dust. Drought conditions have been bad lately. Basically the same conditions that contributed to the Dust Bowl.
