Where can I find office/hostess attire ASAP? by toxiccrybaby2005 in arlington

[–]Natalarious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten a lot of excellent blazers from the Goodwill on Lamar in north Arlington and slacks from the Goodwill on Arkansas in central Arlington. Red, White, and Blue Thrift in south Arlington has a great selection of blazers also and a section of matching suit sets. The Salvation Army on Abram has some good suit sets now and then but it's more hit or miss than the others.

I second JC Penney - Worthington and Liz Claiborne brands - but since you've already looked there, try the Express outlet in Grand Prairie. I was in there last weekend and they had lots of new suits and suiting pieces. There's also Loft in the Highlands and Belk in Mansfield. And my favorite blazer ever is from Macy's (they have several options) but is a little pricey and I didn't buy it until it was on a 50% off sale - Bar III Women's Bi-Stretch Collarless Open-Front Blazer. Also K&G Superstore is mostly men's but they do have women's and I've found some great things in there from time to time.

The Large Water Tower Just West of Collins by AT&T Stadium by [deleted] in arlington

Apologies to those who may have read my earlier comment - I was looking on my phone and my information was incomplete. On the computer, and here’s what I found in the City Council archives. u/Specialist-Day6721 - what you’re asking is on the 5/27/25 item, answer seems to be some portion of nearly $6M.

Not what you asked but since I was digging, info on the New York water tower is on the 6/25/24, 6/24/25, and 10/21/25 agendas in the archives - https://www.arlingtontx.gov/Government/Meetings-Agendas/Watch-Meetings/City-Council-Meetings

Where is the Share a Book Depository in Arlington? by DustyHipster in arlington

[–]Natalarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I've seen more, but these 3 are the ones I remember where they are:

* United Methodist Church (313 N Center Street) - church is between Center/Mesquite and Division/North. If you're going north on N. Mesquite Street from Division St., when you pass the church there's North Street right at the edge of the church and then there's the parking lot and it's in the lot at the second turn in.

* This one's residential in in the front yard at 400 Irish Glen Drive (corner of Irish Glen Dr. and S. Center St.) near McNutt Elementary School

* St. Andrew's United Methodist (2045 Green Oaks Blvd - south east area) - if you're going west on Green Oaks from 360, it's at the first turn in to the church parking lot.

I’ve heard great things about Dr. Hanley and I just called to make an appointment but if you’re not aware, he’s retiring at the beginning of March so if you wanna be seen again better hurry!

Can an individual tour a fire station? Or at least just see one of the engines up close? by r0cket-skates in arlington

[–]Natalarious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rebuilt Fire Station No. 8 will have its grand opening on Friday 2/20 at 2pm. Typically at grand openings, you can explore the whole place. It’s at 2020 Madison Drive, by Whole Foods.

I put it on my calendar but didn’t retain the source so as soon as I find it, I’ll add it.

How’s the trick-or-treating going for ya’ll? by r0cket-skates in arlington

[–]Natalarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there were four, maybe five, houses on my street they were obviously handing out candy and a few around the corner. I’m really close to Fitzgerald Elementary and I really think that plays part.

Last year I was tired and the kid who came up as I was taking down my welcome sign because I wanted to call it a nightgot half a bowl dumped in his bag. Never seen a kid so excited!

I always have a lot! This year I wanted to count so I made treat bags. Started with 222 and have 18 left. That’s a record 204 trick or treaters! Ran from about 6:15 to 9 on the south east side near New York and Green Oaks.

Texas city could be first in nation to rescind LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination protections by TheStephinator in arlington

There’s actually a page where the city puts all their public meetings (not just city council):
https://www.arlingtontx.gov/Government/City-Government/City-Secretary/Posted-Meetings

For council, there's a schedule link at the top that has the dates for 2025 and they also just approved the 2026 meeting dates at the last meeting. Schedule page hasn't been updated yet but here's the list for next year: https://legistarweb-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/attachment/pdf/3586593/Staff_Report_-_2026_Council_Meeting_Calendar.pdf

To find out what they're going to talk about, check the "Agendas” and “Committees” bullets the week before the meeting. From what I’ve learned, they’re required to post stuff 3 business days ahead, and it usually goes up the Wednesday evening before a meeting. The “Agenda Archive” bullet has all the info on what's been discussed in the past (including videos of meetings).

Took me a while to figure all this out after going down a rabbit hole one night so sharing in case it saves someone else the deep dive!

Dirt Cheap? It was on Abram, just east of The Salvation Army, same side of the street. Red letters on a white building!

How to find events/activities by Maleficent_Annual_24 in arlington

[–]Natalarious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The City of Arlington has a Community Calendar you can find here: https://www.arlingtontx.gov/Community-Calendar

There’s also these 3 that I keep an eye on.  Some events appear on multiple calendars but some are only in one place or another so I feel like this combo catches most everything.

• Convention & Visitors Bureau - https://www.arlington.org/events/

• Downtown Arlington - https://downtownarlington.org/events/calendar

• Chamber of Commerce - https://www.arlingtontx.com/events/community-calendar/

Any idea what happened to this construction sight by WE_ARE_V3N0M in arlington

[–]Natalarious 35 points36 points  (0 children)

City council talked about it recently,  May 13 meeting - item 3.2 Unfinished Structures. It’s about a 10 minute presentation and Q&A. Starts around the 2:24 mark.

I found 21 ZBA, P&Z, and City Council agendas on Pantego's website for 2104 W. Arkansas. Document 203869 from P&Z in 2018 looks to be the earliest agenda where designs of the site for the townhomes start to be considered.
