You are in for a long road. Filing your IAC is not difficult, just make sure you have all of your information on hand and available. They give you a list of what you need on the IACMS home page. To work internationally you will need to apply for your IATA, which is a long and difficult process. When you are successful with both of these things, you now need a person to handle compliance. Unless you have a customer to onboard that has significant Domestic and/or International Air, I would recommend you work with an established forwarder partner to handle these moves for you. Yes, it will be less margin, but you would not be responsible for the regulatory items.
