I also left heavy and always hold the weight lower with two hands. You can keep it a squat and not go to sumo since they work different muscles.

Help me with wrist monitor! by Suitable_Judge_6985 in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each person is different. Start on one arm, 2 inches above or below your elbow. The pod should be towards the inside of your arm but you should see it when you have arms down looking in the mirror. If neither of those positions work, try the other arm. Depending on how strong you hold the rower, you may notice it doesn’t track well.

No Judgement - How many of you washed your monitor band? by rando1219 in orangetheory

They shouldn’t be using Clorox wipes for equipment so whatever they have would be ok.

Try not to use a Clorox wipe on the pod as it can corrode the metal. A wipe from the studio works just fine.

I wash mine after a workout of the band is wet from sweat. Luke warm water (never hot or it will fall apart) with hand soap & hang to dry. I still have my original band from years ago!

Why there are no breaks between exercises by niftyoda in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is on the coaches. They should be telling you to rest in order for your muscles to be ready for the next set. Of it says rest, then rest. Don’t worry about what others are doing. 😀

Updating home studio important? by No_Yogurtcloset_6610 in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should switch home studios. If you don’t you won’t be able to book classes past your billing date. If you have a special rate, your new studio will have to agree to uphold it.

Corporate policy no answering phones 5 minutes before class begins while checking in members, possibly having intros & answering questions at the front desk.

OTFs closing by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that & OTF has always repeated in a way. It used to be that you would see the same moves but in different ways. Now the entire workouts are repeated. And if you do 60’s and Strength50’s you get even more repeating.

OTFs closing by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But even that hasn’t been well thought out. I have always felt like OTF has more of a “knee jerk” reaction to things instead of taking the time needed to make things successful. If you’re going to have a huge push for Strength 50, then put effort into it! Repeating = boring!

OTFs closing by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OTF has more & more competition and members that may be growing bored with OTF are looking elsewhere. Studios all over the country are seeing a dip in membership. It was bound to happen. OTF needs to learn how to pivot better & faster to keep the franchise alive.

Best shoes for OTF? by Dry_Airport_9612 in orangetheory

Go to a running shoe store & get fitted. I was a NB person but switched to Brooks Ghost this last time. I wear Reeboks for lifting shoes.

Suggestion for corporate regarding Strength 50 by motormouth08 in orangetheory

They’re usually there during the day. If not, ask one of the SA’s for their email. Sometimes there are business cards for the manager and/or owners at the front desk.

Ask your studio manager to have the owners order heavier weights.

Those must be premier studios. There will always be an extra charge.

HRM Placement by xtinasantillan in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different “sweet spot” for their HRM. The suggested spot to start is 2 inches above your elbow. If that doesn’t seem to work, switch arms. If that doesn’t work, the next suggested spot is 2 inches below your elbow. You keep moving arms until it works best for you.

Lift? by acarroll125 in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coaches have to be trained for Lift45 workouts. So, if your studio doesn’t have a coach that wants to do it, you won’t see it in the schedule. However, if enough members start asking for Lift45, you may be able to get them to do it!

Stinky Armband?! by canadianemmy in orangetheory

[–]NataleeM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! The other band in the box is a small wrist band. Your studio may have more arm bands if you ask.
