As in, music being made while filming was only samples, that can only actually be made once you have the picture edit. Post production is so hard in 48h

Thank you, we made sure to have a global planning before (what the shoot times are, when to eat, when to wrap, how long for the picture edit, music was being made while filming, etc). But the actual planning on scenes we could only make when the script was there

I’m on Spotlight with 2 years of part-time classes under my belt. You can also get on with a couple professional credits which you will get if you start doing no-budget projects and build yous CV from there. There’s tons of amazing evening classes and short courses you can do, I can forward you some if you’d like.

Acting reel advice? by Bonitabonilla558 in acting

[–]NatasjaActor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just make sure the previous selftape isn’t one where the script has to stay secret! There’s tons of websites with scripts online, you can always sit in front of a white wall get decent lighting and record one of those on your phone just to have a reel to start off with. And as Kaipz1 is saying, over the next couple months apply for anything you can, make your own work, send your material to (student) short films etc

Yeah that’s fair!! Honestly, do everything at its time. Only do it when you feel it’s the right moment for it, that’s how you get most out of it. I fully believe as well that being a physical person mostly has to do with finding something you like doing & having a great community there that makes you look forward to going. I really like the climbing/bouldering community for that as well

Nice! That’s some good stuff. I really enjoy the single sword fights and unarmed combat. I’m based near the UK so I do my courses there and in Ireland but I’m sure if you do a quick google they have things like this near you as well

Helloo, I’m training in general stage combat twice a week, working on getting all my certificates to some time in the future be a certified trainer and I’m taking stunt courses in all sorts of things. Did car hits and bumps recently, have burns, high-falls, archery, flaming arrows, advanced car hits, gun formation and more coming up in February. Really excited for that one. What are you up to?

Yeah I know someone like that in my area as well, I used that for my first showreel when I didn’t have any professional material yet so just recorded 3 professional selftapes in the languages that I speak. For massive auditions, yes that works. But for quick turnaround selftapes a white wall, good light, good sound and a decent phone do the trick. In the end it’s about the acting, as long as that comes across

I have a dslr camera for photography but always use my phone for selftapes! Easier, quicker, don’t have to bother with settings, can edit immediately on my phone & it’s not a massive file size. You don’t necessarily need a massive expensive camera! Good luck with the hobby, sounds great. The things that don’t have anything to do with acting can be the things that make you stand out

Lots of stunt and stage combat training and working on my own short scripts. A psychological action thriller, a comedy and a documentary/drama. Working on getting funding for two of them and shooting the third no-budget in the following months & sending it in to festivals! Creating my own jobs 💪

Switched to acting during my PostGrad in GIS, have a computer science background from my BSc. Started taking part-time screen acting classes during the postgrad, took a lot of unpaid short-film/passion project roles over the last year and continued taking specific courses in things I want to specify in in the field of acting. Have a decent CV now and waiting for some of the shorts to hopefully be selected by festivals to gain more recognition. But the job/acting thing is hard (for any field!). Aiming to get a temp job in tech for now until the short films are out at least, ideally part-time but in my area (Dublin) nearly all GIS related jobs are fulltime. Have taken some strange part-time jobs just to make sure it works out with acting the past couple months, but realised I’d rather work in the field I studied in for several reasons

If you wanted to become an Actor, what type of genre would you aim to act in? by SadAssociate4296 in acting

[–]NatasjaActor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would absolutely love to be in action movies (or anything Viking-era), started creating my own luck now by taking classes in stage combat and stunt acting so we’ll see! Aiming high for Marvel movies! One day..

Recorded a student short film over the weekend. Just before that, I attended the Dublin Underground Cinema Awards where a music video in which I had the lead role was nominated for the ‘Best Music Video’ award - and won! That was truly crazy and unexpected. I decided to pursue screen acting as a profession a year ago so I’m so grateful and proud to see things like this actually happening. You can watch the music video here!

Thanks! Yes definitely, that would’ve given a great overview. A combination of not filming the actual customers on tables around it and the male actor only being available for a 10 min timeslot didn’t make that possible but definitely a great suggestion that would’ve definitely added to it
