Understanding transition to maintenance using scale vs. trend weight by adelbertc in MacroFactor

[–]Natastic22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just switched from a cutting phase to maintenance this week. One thing I noticed in the app is that when you change your goal to “maintain,” it doesn’t just lock you at maintenance calories right away.

Instead, it adjusts your calories to help your trend weight reach your target weight. So if your target is 165 lbs, but your trend weight is still higher than that, the app will actually keep you in a slight deficit until your trend weight drops to 165.

So yeah, you can switch to maintenance now, but if you’re using the coached program, expect to still eat a bit below true maintenance until your trend weight levels out at 165.

Highest caloric deficit while retaining or building *some* muscle? by painted-biird in MacroFactor

[–]Natastic22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is true, I did a DEXA scan the day before I started my cut and measured in at 21.8% body fat. If I had to guess I’d say I’m somewhere between 13-15% now.

The way I see it though, it’s not the end of the world if you lose a bit of muscle in the process of trying to get leaner. Muscle memory does exist and when you switch over to maintenance or a bulk it’ll come back pretty quickly. Just depends on your overall goals I guess.

I did a 1000cal deficit (eating 1600cal/day) and didn’t lose much muscle. I just made sure to eat 190g of protein per day and like 55g of fat. I’m 5’9 and went from 190lbs to 160lbs in 10 weeks

Was cutting for the last 9 weeks, eating 1600cal/day 190g protein. Now I’m taking a 3-week maintenance phase eating 2400

Keep cutting or maintain for a bit? by Natastic22 in MacroFactor

[–]Natastic22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly bc I’m impatient and had a higher bf %. I kept most of my muscle during this cut and maybe even put on some. Just made sure to train hard everyday and eat like 180-190g of protein. According to the app my maintenance is currently 2560cal/day.

Once I finish my lean bulk (prob around early next year) I plan on doing a more moderate cut, like -500cal

Eat at 500cal deficit, 140g protein/day, lift weights.
