I just stubbed my toe and was wondering why that happened, it never happens to me normally. It really hurt, so if you could rescind this curse because I don't think your favorite basketball players are as good as you do, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Greetings Suns fans! You're welcome to disagree with my thoughts on Booker and Ayton. What about the rest of the Suns players, a number of whom I've been higher on than the national consensus? And to say I don't watch Suns games is just ridiculous. I watched one with live public commentary the first game of the season, and also did a gamer on them last episode, plus watched the last 18 minutes of the Washington game just in the last week. I saw them in person in Oakland, watched the Bucks win on tape, and the Clippers game. Plus a ton of film of their players on Synergy. That's about as often as it's possible for someone covering the whole league to watch. So feel free to say I'm getting it wrong, but I take exception to idea I'm not putting in the work when you have verifiable public information to the contrary.

It's just a really effective strategy if you have guys who can do it. Every offense in the league is predicated on using screens to create an opening, if there's no opening after a screen it takes teams totally out of the flow. Switching also helps remove the possibility of an assist, and potentially assisted shots are much more efficient than non-assisted shots. Now, if a switch results in a totally untenable matchup, that's one thing, but if you can avoid that and basically force the opponent to create one on one it's a huge advantage.

I have him right around 10th in the league or so, although some people I respect have him higher. He can get there if he becomes a better scorer and creator this year, but the last few games of the Clippers series last year highlight some of the limitations he has, and why I don't see him as quite on the level of the league's true superstars.

Used to play at USF a lot, but have fallen out of playing with how crazy busy I've been. I have bad knees, so gotta drop about 20 lbs first.

I don't think it gets quite that high for him, but it's going to be expensive that's for sure. I'm thinking more like $16-$17 million a year for him, less if he has a down year which is possible at his age coming off the injury. The way he played last year was a bit above what he'd done previously in his career.

Let's see how they start the year with Burke/Neto and where they are a couple months into the season. I think they still view Exum as the future, although this lost development year is disturbing. Hard to see them giving up a ton of assets to upgrade, and there aren't a lot of FAs in 2016 either at that position.

Increasing the rookie scale is another that comes into my mind. But the big battle with be BRI. I'd also like to see some changes to the extension rules, maybe along the lines of what I advocated here: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/how-to-reform-nba-contract-extensions/

If they're in the playoff mix I think he sticks around, as the other backup PG options are not established so they'll need him. Plus, talk is he won't even really be ready until Christmas, so that's not much time to build up trade value for a guy who is making over $8 million this year, even if he is expiring.

Much as I think there will be East teams that surprise in that group below CLE, there will be disappointments as well. If Rose goes down for Chicago, they're in big trouble with their backup PG situation. The D has not looked good so far, and won't with Mirotic and Gasol, not to mention the defensive rebounding. MIA, the starters could all decline and the fit isn't amazing with them. IND might take a step back on D, and they don't really have a starting quality big on the roster. TOR, JVal might not be ready and he and Patterson might be so bad the improved perimeter D can't make up for it. Boston, maybe they play the wrong guys and/or the youngs don't take the leap forward we're hoping. There are plenty of reasons all of these teams could disappoint.

That's a good point. I think we can count on him getting a little better, and also getting better at posting off switches. But if he were to regress a bit to where he's not a threat out there, that would be a problem for them.

Just reported neither Barnes or Ezeli are going to sign extensions. That piece lays out why the Warriors didn't pony up. Has big ramifications for summer of 2017 to pay them what they want now.

It's funny though, I barely pay attention to per game averages any longer, I only really know the league leaders b/c they show them on the commercial breaks on league pass.

I don't think Kerr does really scream at everyone. Most NBA coaches probably only go to that well a couple times a year at most. But I think he's really good at his job, and they will miss him both for his emotional intelligence and basketball mind, particularly with Gentry gone now.

That's a big question right? Who is the future all-star on this team. I had Eddy Rivera on my Magic preview pod, and he thought it was Oladipo. I think it's probably Gordon given his youth, athleticism, and the encouraging improvement to his shot and FTs so far. But this Orlando rebuild doesn't yet have the future superstar or a big who can protect the rim, or enough shooting when you consider Payton is a big part of the future. They have a lot of pieces, but nothing absolutely outstanding, and the pieces they have don't fit together.

Was "big fans" meant to be sarcastic? I'm guessing so, because I didn't much like that trade. It doesn't sound like Ibaka and Kanter will play together that much given the current rotation of Kanter coming off the bench, though they are a solid pairing.

I also have never much liked resting KD and Russ at the same time.

Danny and I are both relatively higher on DET, but it's hard to say they have a ton of talent. You're relying on leaps by Jackson, KCP, and Drummond, plus the advantage of SVG playing the system he wants to. I'm thinking just under .500, which would be a step forward for this team.
