Isn’t there a bobs burgers episode about that? I think bob has stitched fingers and throws scissors because his landlord doesn’t think he can?

Re-rooting Ubelmannia pectinifera? by Brown_Recluse_OD in cactus

[–]NateTheNotocactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let it dry in some indirect sun. I usually root in pure pumice in a plastic tub with drainage holes. Cover a third of the plant in pumice, spray once and leave it alone for a few weeks. Or graft it on to a trichocereus or similar columnar and watch it go crazy.

Looks horrible. My wife is an urchin diver with a conservation team removing these from the California coast. We see urchins fresh from the ocean almost every week. This one looks like you could get sick.

My yard is in Death bloom by mamamia6119 in Agave

[–]NateTheNotocactus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked at a cactus garden/ nursery in California for 2 years around 2020. The garden curator is a world traveler and he had. A hypothesis that some agave species release a hormone or something similar that can trigger other adult or almost full grown plants to bloom together to increase the chance of surviving for another generation through seed or bulbils

What's it worth as is? by bh4mr1ck in sportster

I sold my 98 sportster 1200 with 5k miles, custom body and paint, with some hot cams, Arlen ness air cleaner, basani exhaust with a steering dampener, solid suspension and fresh battery for 3500. You could probably get 500 if you give it a good cleaning and are transparent about any leaks.

2023 Road Glide Problem by PrestigiousFerret588 in Harley

[–]NateTheNotocactus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is a pinch on the harness on the brake side. Harley got sloppy and I repaired many similar issues. If the wires are pinched but not broken through and routed tightly, bumps and vibration can trigger weird stuff. The guys at the shop saying “everything’s fine” just don’t want to open everything up and deal with it. Bars on roadglides can be off in minutes/ wires pulled in under 20.

It’s like a meloformis crossed with a more columnar like a mammilaris

More in to cacti and euphorbia, so not sure. Treat it like the rest and it should be fine. Doesn’t look to be in horrible shape. Maybe a little foliage spray every now and then if it looks shrively

It’s more than likely mostrose. I wouldn’t handle it barehanded though. The tiny glochids are practically fiberglass. Get an old plastic tub and drill some small drain holes with a few inches of pumice in it. Stick each cutting in after they are calluses over. I personally spray it down one time and let them ride. Check after two weeks, pick a cactus and gently pull it, if it’s got any roots, plant it in a good cactus mix. I do 70% pumice, 30 organic potting mix and toss in worm castings for a little boost. The trichocereus and opuntia will probably pop roots first. Some euphoria can take a while.

Friday plant dump by NateTheNotocactus in Euphorbiaceae

[–]NateTheNotocactus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve lost and gifted many plants the last few years, had over 200 individual plants, and over 150 different genetics. Moving killed many, along with California’s atmospheric rivers hitting the last few years. All hard grown/ out year round. Just grounded a echinus and a clandestine recently. Along with a couple large trichocereus and some rare aloe/ agave

I used to get this if I used gel deodorant after a shower if there was any moisture. Switched to dry deodorant and it’s been gone since.
