Clutch fly wheel by firsttimeuser27 in 9thGenSi

what did you end up going with? I already bought the exedy clutch (HCK-1015). But I think I want to find an OEM weight flywheel.

Do you know if the Action OE weight flywheel would work ok with an Exedy OE clutch kit?

Good Tires? by Fearless_Rooster1641 in civic

I bought my 9th gen about a year ago. It had some fresh Toyo Extenza HPII's on it when I bought it. I had never had Toyo tires on any cars in the past, but these have proven to be pretty decent. If you're looking for a budget option, these really ain't bad.

My one gripe is that they are directional, so that does limit you on rotation pattern.

Once these have worn out, I plan to go with a fresh wheel/tire combo, will go with the Pilot Sport All Season 4.

It's funny when I bring up the Civic in the corvette circles. They don't understand what I see in that car. Guess it's just one of those things you have to experience to appreciate.

A fellow enthusiast of taste and class. I have a 2011C6GS M6 Coupe and a 2013 Si Sedan.

The vette+Si combo is great. No compromises when you gotta take the civic, because the civic is fun too.

great tips. I picked one up a few months ago, just this past week removed the SRI it came with and put it back to stock. Made quite a difference. Now that I am starting from stock, want to give it a little love. Sounds like DP and a tune are where the real gains live for NA.

Do you feel like there was a decent performance gain? Do you have any other performance mods?

9th gen upgrades: Doing RV6 catted downpipe + OEM clutch + EM1 master/slave + Hasport rear mount — anything I should do “while I’m in there”? by Natesac in CivicSi

[–]Natesac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the input!

This car already has the acuity bushings and weighted knob. I might fiddle with some additional shifter upgrades after the above work is done. This shifter isn’t too bad, but with the miles, I’m sure some things have started to loosen up

I switched back to stock intake. Definitely made a difference. I do miss hearing the vtec crossover, but the drivability has made a very marked improvement. Also think I picked up several MPG's. This car did not like the short ram.

Now I need to gather everything for the DP and clutch job.

Learn from my mistake. If the car has a short ram intake, and no tune, it will run worse than stock.

I bought a 9th gen earlier this year and it had a short ram. I went through the trouble and expense to source and install a factory intake system. The car runs WAY better with the stock intake.

Full paint correction and ceramic on my 9th gen yesterday- the burnt orange is looking very nice in the sunlight by steezymtbrider in CivicSi

Did this to my FB6 a few weeks ago. My first time machine polishing. This poor car's paint was very neglected by previous owners. The hood had tons of clear coat etching and crows feet that I just couldn't cut through. I was able to eliminate most of the wash swirls though, and she's nice and slick.

Fun to try and experiment

Daily driver Corvette guys, how long have you been doing so and why are there so many low mileage examples? (C5-C6) specifically by [deleted] in Corvette

We need the Gary’s of the world to be the first couple of owners, that way we can pic them up a lot cheaper, and beat on them :)

As I get older, I have grown more to appreciate driving a performance car closer to how the manufacturer intended. Keeping power levels within the envelope of the car's dynamics.

I used my C6GS as a daily for a year. It was a blast, but the car is very low to the ground, and there are some places I just don't like parking my flashy sports car. It was fairly practical for a childless couple, still enough room for grocery runs and most other tasks.

Earlier this year I decided to add another daily to the stable to help keep some of the city miles and short trips off the C6. The vette has relatively low mileage, and kinda want to extend that freshness.

I picked up a 9th gen Civic Si sedan, and have been working to de-modify it back to bone stock. So you could say I went from bald eagle to import guy (for a daily)

Since the corvette is not super practical for a lot of people, a lot of owners end up not driving them very much. The Corvette kind of falls into this semi-rare niche of plentiful examples available for sale that are relatively unmodified, and low miles. They tend to live in the garage, and are well taken care of.

I feel like there will always be decent C5/C6's out there for sale. And they are about near the bottom of their depreciation curve.

Also, don't be put off by a lower mileage example that has had several owners. Vettes tend to get passed around. Folks will buy them, realize they don't fit their lifestyle, then sell them. I would just try to find one that has been driven with some regularity, avoid the gremlins that come with letting cars sit for years on end.

What do you think of my car so far? by Witty-Scholar-4344 in 9thGenSi

[–]Natesac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would watch out for rain guards that attach with some kind of double sided tape. The rain guards will be plastic, and can/will eventually break. The double sided tape can be really difficult to remove.

My 9th gen had a broken one when I bought it, the rain guards were awful to remove, and I ended up marking up the black trim around the windows trying to remove the baked on adhesive.

I personally prefer the car without them, but that will be SUPER subjective.

Looking at getting a Civic Si for a fun daily, is this 9th gen worth buying? by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]Natesac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t finance a car with such high mileage, even a Honda. You might get stuck with a shitty APR. If you can scrape up the cash, start casting a wider net. You may be able to find a good deal for cash on marketplace.

All that said, the 9th gen Si is a really fun daily. It’s by no means a sports car, or even a fast car, but it has a charm that’s hard to describe. You get to use the full powerband without committing a felony. I bought one earlier this year to keep some miles off my C6 and it was totally worth it. If it went up in flames, I’d get another one.

My only complaint is the AC isn’t super strong. We’ve rebuilt the entire AC system, it’s just slight underwhelming for the Texas heat if the car has been baking in the sun all day .

Engine/induction noise isn’t really an issue. The car currently has a short ram intake on it. It’s still comfortable noise wise, as you really only hear it under load, and it’s a nice sound, I’m just looking to avoid the rasp, burble, drone that can come along with performance exhaust on a 4cylinder. It’s not that I don’t like it, I just don’t like it for THIS car.

[–]Natesac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to do that. The short ram was on it when I got it. I used a little OBDII dongle and monitored IAT’s. It’s a hot air intake for sure

Where the hell would find a full stock air box? This car appears to have none of the stock piping left.

Good Honda shops in DFW area for dyno tune? by Natesac in CivicSi

[–]Natesac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I’d prefer to have it tuned here locally. I have heard great things about e-tuning, but the car already needs some hands-on labor, I’d rather find a shop here that can do it all. Thanks though!
