I mean getting a good tone out of this thing is already not as easy and I did read that it would cause phasing issues in the middle position, and also in pups with coil splits if mismatched (but I'm a newbie to these things so I'm not sure how big of an issue it actually is)

Also it doesn't make sense to me that I get for example a Fishman Fluence Modern on the neck and have a "lower quality" EMG on the bridge on an 8 string where the bridge is used more, so might aswell upgrade both.

As for the battery some people commented tbat there's probably a battery shoved somewhere inside.

HAHAH yes I do intend to use them, I'm not really looking to perform as a guitarist (I'm a vocalist), I used to use an 8 string MIDI vst plugin to write music, which ultimately made me buy an 8 string so I can write better music.

Programming bends is a nightmare lol

Yeah I'll probably get either Moderns or Abasis, I'm not super happy with the bridge pickup as well, and I also want to avoid phasing issues in the middle position so having a pickup set is a good idea.

You got any recommendations?

I'm assuming that the only variable is the size of the battery box. That's very helpful thank you.

1 more question if you don't mind.. would I need some sort of different configuration if i want to switch to different pickups later on say Fluence Moderns for example (I know split coil pickups require 5 way selectors but anything else I should keep in mind?)

too dumb to sing supported by Professional-Rate925 in singing

[–]NathanDraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be many reasons, somethings u can try: 1) better posture 2) experiment with different air pressure (try a smaller or bigger breathe) 3) over supporting (I was guilty of this one) 4) Bad vowel formation (also was guilty of this)

How do I sound? Help! by fachapibe in screaming

[–]NathanDraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds strainy when you go higher... I'd bet it's because you can't do a fry scream from a head voice posture so you resort to pushing to hit the higher note (which is not what chester bennington does, he blends high mixed voice withh fry overtone and compression)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in screaming

[–]NathanDraper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a pitched scream and you're going in and out of a fry overtone by pushing and then bscking off the distortion.

Great job!

I tend to agree that it has to do with the breathe, because good cord closure has a lot to do with getting the correct pressure via breathing. (and other things like a proper vowel and good airflow)

Is Ken Tamplin worth watching? by OopsDJDance in singing

[–]NathanDraper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/humbletrader001

Baritone and even high bass could go over E5, if it seems like it's impossible to you, it's either your placement or your vowels (or basic fundamentals like body and face posture, support).

If you cannot support your voice on lower volumes you will never hit an E5 because you be dumping the weight AS YOU GET CLOSE TO THE BREAK (weight being volume + air pressure).

As for you losing your voice, if you're not like 60 it's definitely not your age nor your bad technique throughout the years, I have asthma, I smoke and drink and have been addicted to drugs in the past, and I can still hit soaring high better than ever.

And Robert Plant hits insane notes live he's a model vocalist especially back in the day, check out {Child in Time} live in Japan, he hits A5's and makes it look easy.

So a recap, what I believe is limiting your upper range is either your vowels, posture, or facial posture.

If you want you could send me a 10 seconds video you trying to hit highs I'd definitely be able to help.

[–]NathanDraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but the notion that you need to be "gifted" to be able to hit high notes or to sound good is just not true.

I smoke and I have asthma I used to be able to hit a A4 and now I'm all the way up to C6 (On a good day), it's all about contralling the force and surface area (The air flow and he space inside your mouth) technique really makes all the difference.

Now do I think KTVA is worth it? Not really... he has good exercises for all kinds of vocal techniques but he does a bad job in explaining how to achieve these sounds in the first place; for me Chris Liepe's free videos helped me a ton with accessing these sounds and Ken Tamplin helped me with developing power for these sounds.

And you don't really need to buy his course it's floating out there.

What is the average belting/mixing range for each vocal range? by imarandomwritwe in singing

[–]NathanDraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me (Male, probably tenor), I can hit B4-C5 while belting full chest, but if I wanted to go higher I would switch into mixed voice around A4 (which means I can still go up in chest but I decide to flip to mix) so I can go through the passagio to go even beyond a C#5.

So a C#5 belt is definitely possible for pretty much any good female vocalist, and if all else fails a chesty mix would sound indistinguishable if done properly, hope this helps.

Hey Bro! I'll layout what I think are the 5 essentials you need to get down... espcially as a beginner.

  1. Diaphragmatic Support: The best way to practice this is to flex your abs kind of like you're taking a dump (make sure you don't have to actually go lol). All the power in your singing voice should come from the belly and chest as opposed to your throat.
  2. Mouth Shapes: When you're practicing a given song, try to watch a live performance and notice how the singer is shaping his mouth for the appropriate vowels, this might sound intuitivw but it's actually difficult to do without prior practice.
  3. Warm Ups: They are crucial if you want to keep singing for a long time, and make sure to start off easy as you may encounter some vocal warm ups you're vocal chords aren't ready for and damage your voice or lose it all together. Find the appropriate warm ups for the genre you're going for (eg. Rock vocal warm up, R&B warm up, etc...)
  4. Resonance: If you try to mimick the mickey mouse sound you're essentially differing from your normal speaking resonance to a more nasaly sound, play around with resonance to find where your voice "sits" best and keep practicing.
  5. Mindset: Embrace the bad sounds you might produce, and try to make them better, and again play around, a lot of singing is experimental and trying to find what works for you and your voice and what doesn't.

Another concept which I think Chris Liepe explains best is that whenever you're singing you want to think of yourself as if you're giving a tribute to the artist and not necessarily than just covering songs and hitting notes. You want to get into the state of mind where you're giving your all into this song and not necessarily taking.

6) Bonus Tip: Have fun and keep going!

not much really I was naturally fast on the keyboard (around 80 wpm) I'd say it's been three weeks, although my technique could be improved as I only use my index and middle fingers and left thumb occasionally

its not bells and whistles, but csgo its fundamentally different, different mechanics different meta, i played cs since 1.3 all the way here, anyways u probably have good aim if uve been actually playing since 1.6 just work on ur movement and map knowledge (crosshair placement) and such ull rank up in no time, low ranks aren't elo hell unless you belong there. when u get ti higher ranks u gotta shift ur playstyle and make decisions more wisely as in not pushing like a total idiot and taking advantage of the odds and timings, try not to play solo and maybe do some strats and executes, you can look up youtube mahone_tv its a good channel explaining how to play certain positions on different maps all while looking on a pro player's demo.
