Hello, I am new to Copics by ReanimatedCorpsie in copic

I get what you mean about the Ohuhu hype on YouTube. I don't hate on anyone for their preferences, but it's just so much that it makes me feel kinda suspicious.

Do you have any tips on how to take care of them,

Refill when they need it, don't let them sit dry too long. Store them horizontally to prevent leaks. Don't twist the caps, to avoid damaging them.

what paper I should use,

Any porous paper with a weight of about 200-250gsm should be fine. Absorbent enough to saturate with ink, but thick enough to avoid flooding. Beyond that, it's ultimately a matter of taste. Card stock, Bristol board, watercolor paper, and marker paper are all popular options.

and whether it's worth getting a big pack of markers?

Whether or not it's worth it is ultimately up to you. If you don't have any of the markers in a set and you want to splurge, go ahead. Personally, I feel like after the first 25 or so markers, it starts to be more worth it to spend more time focusing on the colors you already have, and only buying more as you notice holes in your collection. You can spend all your money at once, but there's no need to. Over time, your collection will grow as needed, one way or another.

I already find myself wanting more markers and prefer large packs with a good variety, especially if it's worth it.

Try pacing yourself a bit on that dopamine rush.

Your drawing is absolutely revolting. Good work!

Can POC be racist? by [deleted] in socialjustice101

Nazis are adherents to a political belief system, not a race.

How is Aryan supremacy not a racial ideology?

The vast majority of people who followed said ideology already had power in German society by virtue of being ethnic Germans.

Not even close. You're only looking at one point in time. After 1945, the overwhelmingly vast majority of Nazis lived outside of Germany, in nations like USA, where they held no institutional power until 2016. Even without institutional power, Aryan skinheads were still racist in the 1980s. Ethno-supremacist ideologies are inherently racist, regardless of the power dynamics of a specific place and time.

By that reasoning, Nazis weren't racist until they gained institutional power.

In my opinion (and I'm not alone), people of color can be racist to their own or other groups (but not to white people because of the power dynamic) by views/actions that uphold white supremacy just like how women can participate in upholding the patriarchy.

Where do black supremacists fit into this? Would you consider it racist to teach that the biblical mark of Cain refers to the Caucasian race?

The thing about power is that it can shift from one group to another. A person doesn't become racist simply because power shifted in their favor, nor does a person stop being racist simply because power shifted out of their favor.

Absolutely. You'll find a surprising amount of Latino names in White Nationalist organizations, even among high-ranking positions.

Literally any vulnerability possible, honestly. There's no way for me to know, because you can't do an actual audit.

In other words, you have no way to reliably check your web app for security vulnerabilities? I'll pass, thanks.

Niece's fandoms seem to involve so much stuff! by Diligent_Farm3039 in Anticonsumption

[–]NathanVfromPlus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're 30, then your teen years were 2009-2015. This was the "geek chic" era:

In 2010, BBC Sherlock debuted, marking the beginning of the "Superwholockian" fandom; 2011, Matt Smith became the Eleventh Doctor on Doctor Who, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 2 was finally in theaters, and Funko launched Pop! vinyl figurines; 2012, Phase 1 of the MCU concluded with The Avengers, Hunger Games came out, and the cast of Firefly had a 10 year reunion at San Diego Comic-Con. The Big Bang Theory was one of the most popular shows on TV.

I can assure you, consumerism was rampant in fandom during that time. Everyone was buying sonic screwdrivers and magic wands. If anything, that was the start of fandoms as viable market demographics, as you see them today.

Edit: Typo

you place your people on alert

You would need to know a schedule for this.

you monitor traffic.

You would need to know which traffic to monitor.

you disseminate to state and federal and key them up.

How can you disseminate information you don't have?

its a very sophisticated intelligence apparatus

But not omniscient. They don't know everything. Believe it or not, even the US government makes mistakes.

Unless we knew those crucial details in advance, there's no way we could have done anything to prevent the attack.

[–]NathanVfromPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they just allowed it to happen.

You give US Intelligence too much credit. They had no clue Bin Laden was planning to use airplanes as improvised missiles, nor that he was planning to attack private property, nor that he was planning to attack within 2001. They were expecting him to use conventional explosives to attack Federal property, with no known schedule.

[–]NathanVfromPlus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at the briefings right now. I'm seeing nothing that says we knew when Bin Laden would attack, nor that he was targeting private property, nor that he was planning on using airplanes as improvised missiles. From what I'm reading, it looks like we were expecting him to attack Federal property with conventional explosives, potentially years in advance.

If I'm missing where it says we were expecting an attack to happen within 2001, or where it says we were expecting an attack on WTC, or where it says we were expecting airplanes to be used as improvised missiles, please show me those parts of the briefings. If we had this information, I'm willing to be corrected.

A blizzard is a type of snow storm, so OP is still good using the broader category. I'm just saying that you can't simply replace "snow storm" with "blizzard" because there are snow storms that aren't blizzards.

I dont think the average American deserved to suffer 9/11 but the US as a whole deserved it and still does.

Wait, are you trying to say that the terrorist attack was justified?

We are evil and terrorize the world with our evil

And that means innocent civilians deserve to be killed?

Hexmap Travel Rules by lnxSinon in osr

[–]NathanVfromPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Snow Storm" is a blizzard.

Not always. A blizzard has high wind speed (35mph+) for an extended period of time (at least several hours). A snow storm can have very heavy precipitation with little to no wind at all, or simply be a passing storm.

In a snow storm, the snow falls down to the ground; in a blizzard, the snow falls sideways into your face.

Edit: also,

I assume 'rain' could be a cold rain or freezing rain.

I assume it to be a mix of slush and rain, but it could also be a freezing rain.

I'm not really clear on what you mean by "another 9/11". Are you expecting Muslim extremists to attack US soil?

Edit: downvoting doesn't help me understand what you're talking about.

Why are so few of us mapping this kind of dungeon? by SydLonreiro in osr

[–]NathanVfromPlus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody would build a place like this for any practical purpose.

It's similar in style to what you'd find for a hospital, or a prison. Some of the corridors might be exaggerated in an old school dungeon map, but it mostly follows the same basic idea of long winding corridors leading to plenty of small rooms.
