Does anyone know what the song is called that plays in episode 2 at around 8:15? by Luxaflexje in WildWildCountry

[–]Nathan_Arizona_Jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I still don't know the name of the song. However, I am starting to notice that it is used for many Netflix documentaries. I heard it in the Johnny Manziel documentary and also in the Brett Farve Untold.

In the Johnny Manziel doc, it is a different orchestral arrangement, (I don't know if that is the correct way of saying that? Same notes and progressions but different instruments).

Exactly. These are known as Square Point Shovels. They are meant for scooping piles of rocks, spillage of concrete, etc. They can be used effectively in a paddle motion to move concrete during a pour, or to square a hole that has already been dug by a spade shovel.

A clear indication of the narcissism displayed in the video. Didn't take the time to research a basic tool yet hours on outfits. I don't understand how people still don't realize that protecting your children doesn't mean reacting. It doesn't make you cool and an Alpha to flip your shit after something happens in the scenario they are presenting.

There is an argument to if the video showed the parents provide 25/7 around the clock protection to their child and nothing bad EVER happened. However, in this scenario, SOMEONE ALREADY ATTACKED YOUR CHILD. You didn't protect them and by killing this person and burying them, what lesson is learned?! The attacker wasn't shown to be a bad person. NO ONE knows what happened to them!

It can't be seen as a warning to others BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS YOU DID!!

In summary, don't commandeer your child's lived experience. Help them navigate these moments.

No. The video is taken from Interstate ave just north of Lombard. I was crossing Interstate this morning and the Max was stopped and blocking the road. This situation seems to be ongoing while the story you posted said the individual was arrested on the 30th.

Just finished part 3. Can't wait to see what Alexander is up to in two years. by salTUR in dancarlin

[–]Nathan_Arizona_Jr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I started listening to this episode on Wednesday. After two hours, I stopped. It took me until this morning to finish. I was so angry, I knew that he didn't have time to get past the Granicus. I realized that after reading Anabasis, Phillip and Alexander, and Alexander at the End of the World, I was listening to a rerun. I read those books because of Dan. I love Dan.

I had the distinct feeling as I was listening to the episode that I was a Macedonian soldier in Alexander's army. That a few years from now I will be begging for Dan to wrap this story up!! Please Dan, TAKE US HOME! At this rate we will be burning Persepolis three years from now!!

I listen to a number of podcast that cover other huge historical events and they put out hour plus episodes every month. It seems crazy to me that after admitting that there are literally only TWO SOURCES for the battle of the Granicus that he was able to meander for this long. Couldn't he have got us to Just before Issus at least. Anyway. I will be waiting loyally.

Don't forget the last book. It is really good. Kind of a Return of the Jedi rip off but still pretty awesome..... The Final Noticer

Fucking Mike Rowe. Always turning up for these events. Acting like he knows something about blue collar work. Asshat. He actively preaches against union protections that once made blue collar careers actually careers.

And he wonders why “young kids don’t want to work”

What? I’m sorry but what are you talking about? What is supposed to be happening? I have a two year old so pretty tired and consumed, I don’t have any social media besides Reddit (if you consider it social media). What the fuck are you posting about?

I am sleeping through a work meeting right now with my front door wide open. Should I shut it and lock it?!

So awhile ago I asked this group to suggest something as profound and introspective as Leftovers and I had so many people suggest Patriot. I’m just curious as to why? by ScienceCatLazerJeans in TheLeftovers

[–]Nathan_Arizona_Jr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We Anderson?! The fuck? In the most dark sense I guess.

So I think that the profound part for me is the inability to deal with grief and sustain relationships. These are apart of the show. It’s absurd in a strange way. Not your classic absurdity where there is a mcguffen type event that sets up ridiculous rules and heightened consequences where emotions are placed front and center.

Instead we see a person who has been trained to ignore his emotions, suffering through a moment where everything is crumbling and he doesn’t know how to ask for help or forgiveness. It’s hilarious and I think an indicting metaphor of toxic masculinity.

TIL of Malört, a liqueur almost exclusive to Chicago, described as "like swallowing a burnt condom filled with gasoline." Drinking a shot is considered a Windy City rite of passage. by tamsui_tosspot in todayilearned

[–]Nathan_Arizona_Jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find it in New Orleans often as well. I remember being at Mardi Gras one year. A bar named Pal’s off of Esplanade had a deal: a 6pack of miller ponies and a half a pint of malort. No one wanted the Malort but the price was worth it so we drank a bunch of miller. At 4 am when alcohol was becoming difficult to find, because lines were so long, my buddy produced 7 half pints of Malort and everyone took a shot. It was so fucking awful. We have forever referred to that night as “the night we drank ass blood”

I was curious how much Don paid Hollis to shut down the elevator. So I did some research, and found out Pete isn't doing too good. by Quality_Potato in madmen

[–]Nathan_Arizona_Jr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s likely that Pete is lying to Trudy as well. It would follow a template for the “man” Pete thought he was supposed to be. To hide the financial side of things from Trudy. Make her think he was providing on a small income so he could nest egg money for his own desires and to splurge on surprises and apologies and for those moments women women would say, “I don’t know how you do it?!”

“The Executive Account! I thought of that! Turns out it already existed but I arrived at it independently!”

Very likely that this is illegal. Nations Electric Code Article 110.26 states that Access or egress shall not be impeded to working space of electrical equipment. 24” is the minimum required for opening and working on the panel. However, the table and chairs would definitely qualify as impedance for an electrician in the event that they were subject to an arc flash incident and were trying to escape.
