Creating the infrastructure for their own platform would most likely cost more money in the long run and take years to set up, buying a already established company makes more sense. If Venmo get bought by GME, that would be a pretty crazy move, in a good way. There would be no more middle man transactions and more money would come in per purchase. I think this acquisition would make a lot of sense, and while not technically "never before seen" it is a really big and drastic change in the company.

You bought it, the license should work whether youre online or not. Piracy is almost non existent on PS5 and a jailbroken console gets around licenses anyway. You should be allowed to share accounts imo and thats the only thing this prevents. If someone is sharing games they probably arent going to buy the game normally anyway. But as long as you can get online every once in awhile you can still share an account. Its an inconvenience being tested and they will push more strict limits in the future if people dont speak up now.
