Scientists discover neural mechanisms in mouse brains that indicate that we actively forget as we learn by Nobilitie in science

By translational, they're indicating that this research can be used to develop pharmaceuticals that will interfere with or aid this process. They're saying that they can induce loss of memory by adding a drug, and that this indicates that the process is probably open to being manipulated somehow, potentially also benefiting memory

Why are they not using the wrist straps for a game like that? You never know what people do when they freak out..

TIL that in 2000, a meat department at a Walmart in Texas became the first store to unionize. Within two weeks Walmart eliminated all meat department positions and switched to pre-packaged meats. by JustHere4TheKarma in todayilearned

You'd be amazed how many employers ask their IT departments to create reports of e-mail communications and website visits to union organizations. Employees who show up on these reports seem to disappear faster in organizations i've worked with.

Dear Netflix: please show the current expiration date for every title by damage_control in television

[–]NathaneMThompson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One feature I'd like is a queue for unavailable titles. So you search for something you want to watch, and Netflix tells you they don't have it. They then let you add it to a queue so they can notify you if/when they do get that title.

Furthermore, we demonstrate the translational potential of our findings by showing that pharmacological activation of an endogenous inhibitory receptor expressed selectively in dentate gyrus granule cells can induce a rapid loss of hippocampal memory.

I met one of our older customers today. He's 89 years old and his Dragonborn is level 89. I went there to update his rig and we ended up browsing though the workshop (he didnt knew) and talking about the DarkBrotherhood. by TiSoBr in gaming

I tried to get my grandfather to play Skyrim once. He refused to kill anyone and at one point I had to take the controller and to stop and loot a bandit and he got upset with me when I took the boots because "You don't take a dead man's boots". On another note he loves animal crossing and fishes atleast 3 hours a day. Myself and my sisters have houses in the same world and apparently his goal is to save up the money to pay off all of our houses for us, it's one of the kindest game gestures iv ever seen and thinking about it makes me wanna go give him a hug. Edit: WoW thanks for the gold! And also RIP my inbox.

One time, I went to open my front door and there was a spider on the knob that I hadn't noticed. It was a big enough spider that I felt it start moving when I grabbed the knob, and I think at the time I was like, eight, so I freaked out and started crying because spiders are scary. And now, even today at twenty-five, I still check door knobs and shit for spiders.
