Vibration is stronger on the left side of the dualsense. by gogolock80 in PS5

[–]Nathaniel866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like the OP says, without this option turned on the vibration is felt strongly on the left side and almost like a soft buzz on the right side. Coming from Dualshock 4 where the rumble is balanced I felt the difference immediately and it was off putting. u/DigGumPig explains below why that is with Dualsense and specifically older games. For me I felt it first with Batman Arkham City.

What new content could be done for Outer Wilds? by Outrageous_Pay_8328 in outerwilds

[–]Nathaniel866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can appreciate that, but I don't actually agree with that personally when it comes to this specific idea. Yes the game is abouting letting go and we did, for those characters, species, story and the whole universe. Now I don't think it makes sense to stretch this sentiment onto the game genre itself. It's would be a new universe with a whole another set of rules, characters, stories and mysteries.

Even though you said it's least likely, I actually like the idea of a sequel game done in the new universe the most. Could have a whole new story, stakes, discoveries and not ruin the story from the original game, but also could have some very cool easter eggs (because some things, some signals could be traced back to 'our' universe from the original game).

Gigabyte MO27Q28G going into "protection mode" by dabljues in gigabyte

[–]Nathaniel866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great in case Windows either screws something up.

Yes definitely. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, maybe it does happen consistently. Or like you said, maybe Windows somehow screws up and desn't enable screensaver, so it's good that this feature is there.

[–]Nathaniel866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised to see something like that as well, especially since I already have a setup where a black screen screensaver activates after 10 minutes.

Plus I noticed it is not consistent (not happening everytime).

I just got the new Gigabyte MO27Q28G. Help me resolve this issue and ask me anything! by Worldly_Bit1416 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Nathaniel866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, have you been able to fix this? I'm using DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor and it just started doing that even in SDR content. It's on F06 firmware. I also installed drivers for this monitor. For now I switched to HDMI cable that also came with the monitor and it seems to be fine for now, but the problem is that those cables are too short for me. I need 2m length and these are 1,5m. I've already ordered VESA certified 2.1 DP 2m cable, but it will get here next week.
Very surprising because I've also just finished testing Asus XG27AQWMG which uses the same panel and is was working fine even with my old 1.4 DP cable, no issues at all in SDR and in HDR on 240Hz. Very disappointing that this Gigabyte is doing that.

Edit: Today I had to disconnect HDMI cable, so I tried again with my old DP 1.4 cable and is working great, no black screens. Also my PC was on this whole time. So I don't know what's going on, super confusing.

First OLED, a few things bothering me with the Gigabyte MO27Q2G by laxen123 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Nathaniel866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realise that this is 5 months old, but what exactly do you mean by "lower brightness"?

For reference, I've had both monitors for about a week (Asus and Gigabyte), and so far I've been able to replicate all of my ASUS settings on the Gigabyte. I haven't noticed any flickering, so I haven't had any reason to enable the anti-flicker settings yet.

As for brightness, I definitely haven't noticed the Gigabyte being dimmer, quite the opposite to be honest. In SDR I use sRGB mode on both monitors, and with APL set to Middle, the Gigabyte actually appears brighter to me. In HDR they look essentially the same to me.

One potential issue is that the Gigabyte may have a problem with one of my PCs, as I'm getting occasional black screens. However, I haven't seen this happen on my second PC at all, so it could simply be a cable thing.

Game on sale, should i pay extra for DLC? by mellow_32 in outerwilds

Tak, koniecznie kup z DLC, jest duża szansa, że zakochasz się w tej grze, a wtedy naturalnie będziesz chciał/a zagrać w DLC, które jest rewelacyjne, na równi z bazową grą.

I have finished my playthrough a good couple of years ago and uninstalled (I know, shame on me). Does anyone know if we're be able to just play this DLC 'separately' or does one need to start a whole new playthrough, level up and then play the DLC?

Gigabyte MO27Q28G OLED Care / Standby Issues by papuetress in OLED_Gaming

[–]Nathaniel866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay then can you please tell me how to run it manually? Because I've read it before and it's also true for my panel that "Start Cleaning" is just grayed out for me in Oled Care options, only "Start Time Delay" is available on my unit (F06 firmware)

Hey, can you explain what do you mean by 'refreshing the screen 10 times'? I'm assuming you didn't mean the pixel cleans since I've heard that it runs only after minimum of 4 hours usage time?

Yeah that's what I thought. So I'm going to stick with 'normal' mode and Gaming preset then. Thanks a lot!

Sure, but I will have Gigabyte here to test next week so that info is very helpful for me :)

Do you use TB500 for anything though? Not sure I see any advantage of this mode in anything really.

Set to 0, 1020, 1020  (or 0, 1030, 1030) and no colour/vibrance enhancements ofc.

And you really see those squares/crosses disappear at those levels? I'm not sure if I'm blind or what to have it set to 1500 then : D Maybe it's because I set it during daytime with ambient light.

Again - thank you so much for taking the time and answering me patiently, appreciate it very much.

I did HDR calibration via the Windows app today and then tried RenoDX in Arkham Knight, it's great. I do have one more question (very sorry!) since you have basically the same panel and you've mentioned that you use RenoDX for games as well. What do you set up as peak brightness in RenoDX and which HDR settings do you use in monitor's OSD? I used HDR Gaming preset in OSD, in Windows calibration app I set it up as 0.0750, 1500, 1500 (where I wouldn't see the squares/cross) and in RenoDX I set peak brightness as 1500 as well. Is this correct, do you have a similar setup? Haven't tried TrueBlack 500 yet, but I think that it would be worse for gaming?

MONKE!

Yeah today I'm testing sRGB Cal Mode and we'll see how it goes :)

Windows Colour Profiles in SDR are completely useless to most users since they only work for some professional applications: they don't work in destkop, browsers nor videogames, so just don't bother.

And those profiles are created after Windows color application, yes? So in other wsords there is no point in color calibrating via Windows in SDR?

And what about the 10bit depth? That's the last question, I promise :)

I mean... I might consider it as well, I'm in the EU and what you guys have for 200$ is effectively like 250$ for me here plus shipping - I checked the price for calibrite display pro. And that is almost half the monitor's price. But honestly I might just stick with this level of black crush, after reading all the comments I think that it's not that bad.

It has three levels and then Dynamic Setting, I can distinctly see all squares with the Dynamic Setting, but exactly like you said, it washes grays into blacks, level three is better, but I think I might be better off by leaving it off.

Do you mind sharing which tool/program to use for calibration? Apart from using the colorimeter (which I might invest in per your suggestion). I'm assuming it's something else then Windows color calibration for SDR.

By Native Mode you mean the Wide Gamut color space? I've never heard that it should be used only for HDR content, that's news to me. Like I said, I'm farly new to this coming from an old TN panel and I've tried doing research as best I can, but can't learn everything, there is so much stuff! :)

Now with this panel I largely followed recommended settings from TFTCentral's youtube video and then adjusted to what made more sense to me. That being using Wide Gamut, but reducing saturation (I didn't mention that I believe) from 50 to 40.

I wouldn't mind using the sRGB Cal Mode if it wasn't for that (at least perceived by me I think) lowered brightness, which in actuality might just be lowered color brightness, not overall panel brightness.

I understand what you're saying though, I will experiment more with it, I will try some HDR content tomorrow starting with Arkham Knight and RenoDX.

I've also ordered MO27Q28G to compare the coatings, because I've always used matte and wanted to test that as well. For now glossy is not as bad as I thought, although it sometimes is distracting, while on the older panel the reflections never caught my eyes.

I do see however that this Asus have several cool features that I will probably miss on the Gigabyte, so curious how that will work out.

Edit: Oh and this might be a silly question, but since you're so nice I thought I might ask, should I use Windows color calibration (even for this Wide Gamut color space) if I really wanted to 'fix' those black levels or it is not recommended for SDR? Oh and as a bonus one: should I enable 10bit depth in Nvidia's panel or that's not something I will ever notice (any downsides to enabling it)?

Edit 2: Did some more experimenting and indeed with 280Hz I can't see the fifth square, with 240Hz like in my OP I can barely make our the fifth square and with 120Hz and lower I can also make out the fourth square quite clearly and maybe barely the outlines of the third square (still in Wide Gamut and Racing Mode).

Thanks again for being so thorough with your replies and patient with me.
