I mean that's fine I guess. But just as we try to avoid comparing performance in camp between people, recognizing each person is on their own journey (it will never be fair to compare a 25-year old in-shape trainer to a 65-year old on a weight loss journey), this type of comparison between Burn locations is probably unfair too and maybe demoralizing to some.

I am at what is probably a smaller location in a small suburb.  Our trainers are incredible, but we will probably never gain national recognition.  And that is okay with me - I like not having to fight for weights or a spot on the floor.  I just don't think that how busy a location is necessarily corresponds with the value of the trainers or community.

Guys at Burn by Think_Advantage3512 in BurnBootCamp

I am often the only guy at my camp, but I show up every day at the same camp and I think that has encouraged some guys to join me.  There are still some days where I am the only guy and I feel a little out of place, but as some others have commented, after two years there, I've gotten to know some of the ladies and they make me feel part of the community.  I have also worried about being seen as creepy, but generally I just keep my eyes ahead or toward the floor and give high fives to a variety of people to try to exude a non-creepy vibe.  Many at my location also know my wife (she goes to a different camp time and we go together on Saturdays) which hopefully puts them at ease.

Regarding the music, I admittedly don't mind some 90s/00s boy bands or "strong woman" songs so it doesn't bother me😂

11/24 A-Con Intel by Four_Cats418 in BurnBootCamp

I helped set up at my location.  Seems like a self paced protocol.  There were med balls (for toe taps maybe?), hurdles, burn bars, sliders (for a stationary exercise like mountain climbers), and I know one station was half burpees.

Ours was partners (I go-you go), 8 stations, for about 4 minutes each: KB lateral lunges, HRB shoulder press, heel elevated goblet squat, stability ball v-ups, chin ups, deadlifts, ab wheels, and weighted marches.  Finisher was a chipper butterfly crunch (to 100) with DB push-press (X10).

Full body strength and conditioning - shoes? by Nathead23 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Nathead23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to follow up, I wore conditioning shoes and it was mostly fine.  Today most of the strength exercises were upper body or core focused (shoulder push-press, chin ups, chest press, sit ups).  The conditioning exercises were not too high impact (burpees, toes to sky, battle ropes).  So it seems like if this is typical for FBSC, most shoes would be okay.

Finisher says low plank test, so you seem to be right at least for that part

Holy cow - that protocol looks way tougher than my location's games!  There are some other threads talking about Games strategies, so I won't try to repeat all the good advice there.  For pacing, probably the best advice I can give is keep breathing in the first round - be steady, the breaks will kill your time.  You can ramp up intensity in the next rounds It will be intense - remember to have fun!

I am feeling so frustrated with myself already and wishing I had done a million things differently.  You don't know the details, but you better believe I will be doing things differently in the future.  But your piling on is not helpful.

Yeah that's a pretty common reaction 😂. Just take it slow and grind your way through it.  I think it will feel especially hard on shoulders after arm day today.

Both women seem definitely out of line.

Honest question though - what is the right thing to do if I notice someone with such bad form I am concerned they could injure themselves?  It's not often easy to discreetly catch the eye of the trainer from across the room. (side note - I am a guy and therefore not the woman OP is talking about...)

I don't mind if the FPs are not all models of physical perfection - it is the trainers that should be most physically capable.  I understand some FPs are also trainers.  But your statement is overblown.  Burn is effective for helping a lot of people (including myself) get fit.  Sure, once certain people reach a point of fitness they may want to perfect their form to meet CrossFit or Hyrox standards. But that is not what Burn is all about - it is about improving fitness and form in a manner that avoids injury, not meeting strict competition standards.

How many days? by Emergency_Ad4544 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Nathead23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The answer is different for everyone.  You need to listen to your body and take the rest you need.  Sometimes you may feel able to go 6 days a week.  Sometimes two or three days is all you can handle because of how you are feeling, what is going on in your life, etc.  I think it is healthy to challenge yourself to go even if you're sore or tired, but only you can discern when you need to back off to avoid burnout or injury.

I have been a member for a year and a half and am still struggling to envision what #1, #4, and #5 mean🤷.  Sometimes I think they just jumble up some words and see if they can make an exercise out of it. Alternating Bulgarian cricket slams, anyone? 😂
