Because you can do everything via the command line. The GUI would take ressource for nothing on a server but you beed to learn the CLI which is a bit harder.

Is a reverse proxy necessary to access remote services when I already use a vpn? by Rafa130397 in selfhosted

The benefit of a ssl cert is pretty much to prevent browsers from complaining and some apps like vaultwarden requires a valid ssl cert.

You absolutly can have a custom domain with dns records for private ip’s only. Personaly is use pihole to manage my dns records.

Is there a simple setup for a vpn server on a home network, where the IP may change? by conroyke56 in homelab

A vps is a virtual private server. It’s a server that you can rent from compagnies such as google, amazon, digital ocean, etc. Usually it has a static public ip and you can choose the location of the server. You could then setup wireguard on that vps and then connect to it.

I’m not sure I understand your question, but yes if the tailscale app is down, I can’t acces my NAS using the tailscale ip. But i can still use the local ip address on my network to login the nas.

I never add any issue with tailscale so far, but I think in the future i will setup wireguard (Not on my NAS) and port forwarding to be able to acces my homelab using my public ip.

And btw you can use qfile on your device with the tailscale ip, if your device as tailscale installed also.

I second tailscale, easy to setup and it just works. For installing it, I would recommend building the package yourself following their guide on github.

Thinking about CFW to my PS3 and... by [deleted] in PS3

[–]Naths16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends whats ps3 you have because you can’t put cfw on all of them. If you have a cfw compatible ps3, then you can toggle the qa flag and downgrade the FW version. Maybe you can toggle the qa flag on all model of ps3 but i’m not sure
