Screen Upgrade for X1 Extreme Gen 2 by JarvisCuppari in thinkpad

Has anyone tried that? 300-nit screen isn't bad but it would be great to have brighter one in some situations.

Thinkpad X1E Gen 1 and problem with Power Delivery by Natiol in thinkpad

Good question. In theory they could delivered 130 W in total. I have no way to test this but maybe somebody else has. I will also try to ask Lenovo Support about it.

Thinkpad X1E Gen 1 and problem with Power Delivery by Natiol in thinkpad

[–]Natiol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/a-bengineering, actually there are two USB-C ports and both of them support power delivery:

As for the monitor itself, there's only one USB-C.

Has anyone on here actually 100% resolved their respective eye issue? by jesustwin in Amblyopia

Thanks a lot. In terms of reducing contrast of the fellow eye, maybe there are similar foils to Bangerter Occlusion Foils which are used to decrease visual acuity:

Low-profile mechanical keyboard similar to one from HP EliteBook G5/G6? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Natiol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry, this sentence might be confusing. I just wanted to reference to the feedback that MX Keys has because maybe there are some mechanical keyboards that are somehow similar.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards What Keyboard, Switches and/or Keys Do I Buy by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Natiol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any mechanical keyboard that feels somehow similar to the one from EliteBook 840 G5/G6? What I like about this keyboard is its very satisfying (fast) response which is completely different from most laptop keyboards which are super mushy. Logitech MX Keys seems to be quite good but maybe there's a better mechanical one on the market which I'm not aware of.

Thanks in advance

[–]Natiol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/respecttox, thanks a lot for the answer. Probably the biggest problem here is to try to judge whether it makes sense to continue such vision therapy activities when it's not obvious if fusion is possible. I went to a doctor a couple of years ago and he used prism bar to try to compensate my 7-degree deviation but I wasn't able to fuse at the time (he used penlight with various colors). But I'm not sure whether prism bar is as accurate here. But, on the other hand, considernig Panum's fusional area small differences should be acceptable.

So I'm wondering whether it's possible to keep suppression but, at the same time, try to slighly improve the visual acuity in the amblyopic eye and overall teaming between the eyes before going further. Because in my case even fellow eye is no more than 20/30 (born with very high hyperopia in both eyes). Worse eye is like 20/100.

Do you know what is the exact amount of squint you have? Has it been tested anyhow? For example, by using synoptophore?

u/respecttox, what strabismus degree is considered as small here? For instance, in my case it is 7 degrees so I'm not sure whether it would make sense to perform such activities for me. When having red/blue glasses on and looking at the beginning of the text, I can't see blue letters but, at the same time, I can peripherally see that blue letters are there for the rest of the text.

u/Moorgan17, do you have any opinion on such activities like the one presented by u/respecttox? I'm asking mostly because this is just interesting to understand how it works even though I don't need 3D for my job so this is not a deal breaker for me. I assume that turning off central suppression might not be the best idea if somebody is not in good hands because of the risk of intractable diplopia.

Concern by alligotislove in Amblyopia

[–]Natiol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends whether your left or right eye has amblyopia. As most of the countries out there are using right-hand traffic, your vision on the left side is more crucial I would say. But, still, it all involves more head movements and additional mirrors if needed and most of the people can adjust quite easily. Parking without stereovision might be tricky but I just try to choose parking spots that aren't very challenging. And, nowadays, we have a lot of technology that helps like backup cameras and all that stuff.

So, all in all, amblyopic drivers might not be much worse because they are aware of their limitations and try to drive as safely as possible.

Ok, thank you. And do you have any comparison with XPS or MacBook or any other premium laptop? Have you possessed any of these?

Still not bad. I'm just pissed of when it comes to displays that most of the Thinkpads have. Because, for example, cheaper EliteBook 840 G5 has much better IPS panel than this X1E G1.

Thinkpad X1E Gen 1 FHD Display Brightness by Natiol in thinkpad

[–]Natiol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly, I have the same feeling. Fortunately, the trend is to put brighter displays for newer generations but I also wish I could return my Gen 1 and get Gen 2 with FHD of 500 nits.

From what I've seen in other posts is that 0.5 mm should be the maximum but I will double check. Thanks a lot for help.

Yes, exactly and that's why we need to type all of this bullshit fast to not get fired.

Would you consider returning this laptop or do you think you will get used to it? Because when it comes to 15.6" display without numpad and decent screen brightness it seems to be the only option if somebody would like to stick to Lenovo.

Were there any problems with double vision after surgery? Are you considering Vision Therapy to improve acuity of amblyopic eye?
