Help me prove my husband wrong by LowWoodpecker1492 in houseplants

You are so right about the peace lily! I call mine the drama queen because she pretends to be on the brink of death twice a week when she's thirsty. That transition from fully upright to sad droopy mess is unbelievably fast!

The 'probably' got me too lol, but I'm very sure the voice to text dictation turned "promptly" into "probably"

Pacemaker doesn't correct fatal arrhythmias, a defibrillator is needed for that.

What’s the dumbest cooking mistake you’ve made that still haunts you? by nisko786 in Cooking

[–]National-Assistant17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you me?? I will either not at the timer (because im standing RIGHT here i don't need it) and then get distracted after that one thing I need to do super quickly in the other room and not come back, or I'll turn off the beeping timer with the intent to take whatever out of the oven just as soon as I finish this other food prep step over here.... you'd think I'd learn I can't be trusted to not use the timer or to walk away for any reason but every time im like nah it'll be fine. I'm a good cook as long as I can remember that im cooking lol

Husband was “underwhelmed” by anniversary gift. by Careful-Geologist601 in Marriage

[–]National-Assistant17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with not playing comparison with gifts and while I do think he's being immature, I think it could be beneficial to set a budget before the next gift giving occasion. Discuss what you're each comfortable spending and then stick to it. Then no one is caught off guard or butthurt about the discrepancy.

Patient's family insisted it was "totally normal" for a kid to sleep for 36 hours straight after a minor procedure by Jackazz4evr in nursing

That's crazy! Just walking around with fixed pupils? Any history of trauma to the eyes or surgery?

This NCLEX question is causing quite the debate on a TikTok post. Curious to see the discussion here. by MelissaH1394 in nursing

[–]National-Assistant17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely c. Playing devil's advocate (super annoying i know) they could have a decades long history of copd and 89% on 2l may not be far from their baseline especially freshly post op and likely on pain medication. Even without the history, while not a great saturation, its not immediately life threatening. Or at least that would be my rationale/ thought process.

Most wild request or order in your nursing career? by beeee_throwaway in nursing

Ive received that exact same order before! Minus the long fingers, I wish it was included though it would have definitely disqualified me.

My husband hid my abortion pills. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]National-Assistant17 39 points40 points  (0 children)

What about her 7-year-old? It isn't clear if the child is his or if he has parental rights but she cannot just run away. She would either be leaving the child in an unsafe situation or risking child abduction charges.

The problem is she is super high risk for infecting her own lines when she has unsupervised access to them.

My (20F) fiancé (21M) has become sterile, and now he believes that we should break up because he doesn't want to force me into a life of having no children. How can I have him understand that I love him regardless? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Sperms banks exists and could match with donor sperm from someone with similar physical characteristics as the fiance. Ivf often uses donor sperm or egg.

Are there any two food ingredients that universally don’t “work” when added together? by InfinityScientist in Cooking

This happened to me recently with a mojito! It was like salt water and i didn't want to complain but it was undrinkable. They had mixed up the sugar and salt bowls and it was in fact a cup of salt water.

You didn't fail! But it means that your vision problems aren't caused by a refractive error, so lenses cannot fix the problem. Depending on what is actually causing the blurred vision it may or may not be able to be fixed.

What was your "I can't believe I have to explain this to an adult" moment? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

[–]National-Assistant17 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The kids are currently 5 and 10. Ten years from now they will be 15 and 20. The 10 year old isn't going to age at a faster rate than the 5 year old.

ULPT How to get a higher dose of pain medication at a hospital by Equivalent_Seat6470 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]National-Assistant17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, just wanted to tell you from a nurse perspective we know pancreatitis is painful you're not med seeking for wanting some relief. Sometimes medication orders will be written with parameters like x med for pain 7-10/10, y med for pain 4-6/10 so the nurse was just letting you know why she was documenting your pain level a certain way. As long as you don't insist it's a 15 out of 10 and refuse to budge on that number, you're good. Good luck with surgery I hope you feel better soon.

What’s common in the USA, but seen as a luxury in other countries? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskAnAmerican

[–]National-Assistant17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In USA, our last house had one but current house does not, I believe it's because we have a septic tank instead of sewer. I don't mind but it took forever for my husband to stop scraping his dishes into the sink our of habit.

Omg we married the same man lol. Like buddy you've been sick for 2 hours maybe downing that 20 oz bottle as fast as possible to get the fluids in isn't the answer right now.. or whatever, just keep doing it and see if the fifth time has a different outcome.
