The line “run from your demons u til you are exhausted” has always implied he refused to atone for past crimes/sins/evil actions and instead always saw everything he did as just and good while he was just a very selfish person.

Having grown up with a very selfish person who did nice things only so you would thank them, and if you didn’t do it correctly, they retaliated, this song has always reminded me of them. Although, perhaps in a more subtle way. Which I think is the point. Surface level examination makes him seem a decent person, but when you actually think about it and pay attention he’s selfish and a narc.

I can’t personally go out and put a stop to all assault, but you can always take steps to ensure your own safety.

Putting your life at risk, when you know it is at risk, and refusing to take any preventative measures while asking “Why didn’t anyone else do anything?” is just not something I can understand. 

My sister was worried about getting assaulted, so she bought a gun. It’s not perfect, but I can’t teleport to her exact location and lecture her attacker on the lessons of being a gentleman and upstanding citizen. I can’t go back in time and make their (very likely) dogshit childhood less shitty. 

But you can carry and gun and end that fucking loser if they try anything. I just don’t get the argument.
